i told you guys western alamance would dominate dudley...i think they're finally going to win the states this year...2 years of being second place with bo jordan at qb (one year western won at the end, but the play was overturned on a VERY bad call), now they have a scrambler that can throw the ball and will win the states 10/31/2006 11:05:41 PM |

i was at that asheboro-er game, and asheboro by no means deserved to win. the ER offense gave them that game after they had a prime opportunity to kick a game winning field goal thanks to asheboro's kicker missing 2 extra points, and they didn't take it. 11/1/2006 10:40:47 AM |

Cummings is the school where I coach soccer and adjacent to the middle school where I teach, and based on what I see they have a very good chance to win the state this year. They have a pair of receivers who are ungodly, like 6'5" and fast as hell, and the best thing is that their QB and star receiver are only juniors. 11/1/2006 4:00:35 PM |

Cary HS has a current player named Long Wang. Last year, when the Imps played at Fuquay-Varina, I had to call his name at least a half dozen times, as he was one of the leading tacklers for Cary. 11/1/2006 5:59:21 PM |

How is it that you can put a 7-3 Broughton team in the top 50, when they currently aren't number 1 in their conference, and they need help to even SHARE the conference title. Surely you can't think they are better than a Leesville team that is undefeated on the field. Being in the same conference, Broughton and Leesville paly the same opponents! 11/2/2006 11:12:35 AM |

^^ Broughton's schedule is significantly tougher; they've played four top-100 teams, including #5 Richmond County, and they beat likely PAC-8 champ Durham Jordan. Leesville has played only one top-100 opponent (Broughton).
^ Shelby has a heck of a team, but Greenville Rose has been amazing. The Rampants have outscored their six conference opponents by an aggregate score of 328 to 13. In a non-conference game, they gave Bertie County their only loss, 54-6. No one has played Rose within 3 TDs all year. The only disappointment is that they aren't 4AA, so they can't face Independence. 11/2/2006 11:47:42 AM |

^ Can't help you there...I've not seen them play in several years. A coach who is a motivator, surrounded by assistants who teach sound fundamentals, can make a huge difference in HS football. Unlike most other sports, kids don't play football year-round in city leagues, travel teams, AAU, etc., so good instruction makes a lot of difference, as does a solid weight-training program. 11/2/2006 12:01:15 PM |

^ This Indy team is not as dominant as in past years. Two weeks ago, they won by just seven points against a Myers Park team with a losing record. In another game, they stopped a two-point conversion in the final seconds to win a game 21-20. 11/2/2006 1:32:21 PM |

But is their winning streak intact or not? They won the last title, and are currently undefeated, therefor, No one has beaten them, they are the raigning champ, and they should be #1 11/2/2006 3:59:18 PM |

In the media polls, probably so. They could pull off one Houdini escape after another, and stay ranked #1, even if Shelby and Rose are crushing strong opponents. However, a computer ranking doesn't care who won last year. 11/2/2006 4:21:26 PM |

to reply to the question about millbrook being bad.....earl is not at millbrook anymore, he is at wf-r, that is a key reason why they are so good now. inscore is the current head coach at millbrook and another reason for there slow decline in local dominance has been b/c so many new schools have been built in the area such as Wakefield, Middle Creek, Green Hope, and more which is spreading out all of the atheletes in the area. it excites me to see that triangle football has gotten progressively better over the past decade and i hope it continues. i look forward to seeing my leesville pride win their first outright conference championship tonight! 11/3/2006 8:09:59 AM |

I feel kinda bad for West Lincoln. At one time, they were a 9 seed, then an 8. They ended up as a 15, which is odd since they finished ahead of #7 North Lincoln. As for East Lincoln, we'll take our #3, though I'm still trying to figure out why Shelby is a 2 instead of 1. 11/4/2006 11:54:04 PM |
