So what are they gonna do with the awesome fake movie trailers they had on there like Machete, Werewolf Women of the SS, and Thanksgiving (I think there were more, can't remember). I guess they would put them on both the Death Proof and Planet Terror DVD's?

^^^^ They didn't make nearly as much money as they wanted to on this (it's a commercial failure, technically) so they are trying to make up for it with DVD sales.

I heard the reason that they were not released concurrently was becuase Rodriquez and Tarantino took different amounts of time with the dvd features

...and that's why I'm going to wait. I remember Sin City was the same way, and I bought the regular version first. When the special edition DVD came out, I gave the regular one I bought earlier to my bro, and I copped the special edition.

Sorry, Death Proof was a bad movie in my opinion. I'm sure it was a great homage piece, but in my opinion that and the end were all it had going for it. In order to be grindhouse-esk it was purposefully made a bad movie; no good came of it.

However, the Rodriguez movie was AwESOME! It was funny, and pretending it was an old movie was more in jest than reality, as it was a good movie on its own.

Too bad I don't buy movies, or splitting up the films would allow me to be heard on this issue.

Death Proof actually holds up as a decent film by itself, as long as you don't watch it right after Planet Terror. The first time around I caught the late showing, so by the time DP started I was trying to fight off sleep.

The thing that still annoyed me about it though is Kurt Russell seemed like he was trying too hard to talk like John Wayne or David Carradine.

Also, the second time around I found myself rooting for the girls instead of Stuntman Mike. I think the first time I was too tired to listen to the girls bitch about nothing for an hour and a half

This was probably the worst movie I have ever seen. Tarantino was awful, the movie was awful. I wanted to vomit every minute.

The thing about Tarantino is that every character in his recent movies is supposed to act like Quentin Tarantino. The only character who doesn't act like Tarantino, is of course Tarantino himself because he is such a pitiful actor he can't even act like himself in front of a camera.

Ok, so this movie is supposed to be like the old grindhouse movies, you know with scratchy camera work, etc. So here goes Tarentino and makes a movie with scratchy camera work, absolutely masterful, bravo, how did you ever think of it?

Now, where does this jerk get off using this tagline: "Tarantino's 5th film." 5th film? First, only an egomaniac would use such a phrase. Second, IT'S NOT HIS 5th FILM. Well, if you can call this piece of plotless shit a film... more like 1/2 a film. He wants to forget he ever had anything to do with "Four Rooms," but yeah it's out there. So really this is like Tarantino's 6 1/2 film. Oh, and I guess we are supposed to take Kill Bill as one film, great.

Tarantino had a great thing going. He had Pulp Fiction, Resevoir Dogs, and then he made Jackie Brown. I liked Jackie Brown, but it got panned at the box office, so Tarantino thinks that he has to cater to the audience so here comes Kill Bill and now Death Proof.

Finally, I much prefered this soundtrack in the movie it originally came from... "Cruising."

Death Proof was true Tarantino. His use of dialogue in this film is masterfull, and the soundtrack rocks.

^^^tarantino directed 1/4 of four rooms, i wouldn't list it as his movie.

Can't disagree more here. Death Proof and Kill Bill were films that he had dreamed about making for a long time. The problem with them is that they each have some obvious flaws (DP has a boring plot and KB is way too drawn out), but I think that it was until after he became an established directer that he decided to pursue his own interest and do what ever he wanted.
