Delgado has been on fire the last few games

Even with a no decision, Lincecum looked pretty good tonight considering I'm bigger than he is

Anytime you can take 2 of 3 in a series against Lincecum, Zito, and Cain that is great.

Reyes look like he is snapping out of his slump.. back up to .310 and was on base 3 of 4 times tonight. Wagner still looks amazing with 31 straight saves converted. Beltran is probably fine... I think he just jammed his knee but he is hitting better and coming out of his slump too.

Things are looking good. 3 games ahead of the pace of last year and .5 games farther ahead of the second place team same time last year.

[Edited on May 31, 2007 at 10:00 PM. Reason : oh and when el duque is healthy he is straight filthy... 2.30 ERA.]

I hope Beltran's not out for an extended stretch

Then our entire outfield won't be on the field

Quote :
"Pedro Martinez this afternoon took the most significant step to date in his rehab, throwing 38 pitches off a mound for the first time.

Eight months to the day of his rotator cuff surgery, Martinez was his usual jovial self as he prepared for his bullpen session. After 15 minutes of agility drills and 15 minutes of long-tossing, Martinez stepped on the mound here at the Mets' minor league complex at precisely 1:11 p.m.

He practiced his delivery five times off the mound before throwing seven pitches, with minor league catcher Danny Cummings standing upright. Then Cummings crouched down and Martinez threw 15 pitches under a sweltering mid-90s heat.

He took a five-minute water break and practiced his delivery once more, before throwing 16 final pitches off the mound. The bullpen session lasted 12 minutes.

"He went into it with an understanding that he wasn't going to push it," Mets rehab pitching coach Randy Niemann. "He wanted to be free and easy."

Niemann said as long as Martinez feels good, his next bullpen session could be Friday. Martinez is expected to meet with reporters to discuss the session shortly.

The Mets have been stressing patience with Martinez and are not planning for him to return until after the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline.
"

Beltran back today. Valentin back Thursday. Green back this weekend. Alou back middle of next week (maybe). Not bad being 5 up in the L column with almost half of our everyday lineup out and our ace yet to throw a pitch.

This is fucking pathetic. We can't score runs against anyone. Thank god the rest of the division is playing like asshole too..

We need to get healthy real bad. Reyes and Lo Duca are the only consisent hitters on the team..

Automatic IBB whenever he gets a RBI chance. Now our 2, 3 and 4 outfielders are out injured. Lovely...

they are doing what they call the "Beltran"

its pretty easy, you just see a strike down the middle, dont swing, then take 2 steps toward 1st before the out call

Oh, don't worry. We'll help you out this weekend by getting swept in three blowouts. This team looks worse than the '02 and '03 teams all of a sudden.

This is pathetic.. if we win we'll be 3 up again in the division and STILL tied for the best record in the NL.. what a horrible division/league.

Starting with the Detroit series, the Mets will play a series with the Dodgers, Yanks, Twins, A's, and the Cards: All playoff teams last year. Tough ride ahead.

Quote :
"Before last night’s game between the Minnesota Twins and New York Mets, Twins announcer and former pitching great Bert Blyleven made one of the greatest dumbest bets ever. Blyleven made a wager with Johan Santana that, if Santana threw a shutout, Blyleven would shave his head."

they showed Johan shaving it on ESPNews

Where has this been? The perfect game that hopefully will get them going.

#296 for Glavine and he is 2-3 w/ a 2B and 2 RBIs... and one long run around the bases on a Reyes should have been triple.

Hopefully it carries over. Reyes for MVP.

Huge 4 gamer with the Phils this weekend. We have the upper hand on the pitching matchups but we all know how CBP is... never can tell there.

I think the Phillies are pretty clearly the toughest contender for the division, especially if they can get Myers healthy again and back in the rotation (if Flash is ok and he is throwing again). I just haven't seen enough from the Braves to show me they can hold up for the entire year...

Delgado really needs to figure out whats up and hopefully that bandbox in Philly will let him... oh and Gomez >>>>>>> Milledge. He has Jose Reyes in the OF written all over him... Wright, Reyes, Gomez, F Martinez, Maine and Perez... that's quite a young core.

^ Definitely a big series. I hope the Phils take 3/4 or sweep because the Mets are still the class of NL East. The Braves do not have enough pitching to hang in this race. That has unfortunately become very obvious with the recent 5th inning blow ups by James and Davies and Hudson coming back to earth.

The Mets only concern is health and consistency from the starters. Maybe inexperience too...

^^Dude, the Phils will never be able to sustain this. I don't know how they are winning games right now with this pitching. I guess scoring 10 runs a game will win you a few, but that won't last forever. They'll end up behind both the Mets and Braves by the end of this thing. The whole division is shit, but the Mets will win it by 6 or 7 games, by default really...neither the Braves or Phillies are contenders

Maine didn't make the ASG but Cole Hamels did. wtf?

Hamels: 9-4, 3.87 ERA, 1.22 WHIP
Maine: 9-4, 2.74 ERA, 1.15 WHIP

I guess LaRussa is all about some strikeouts because that's about the only stat Hamels is better than Maine in...

---- that piece of shit LaRussa must be drunk again b/c Maine isn't even on the 'Final Vote' list...
