He plays golf, snorts coke, and fucks strippers everyday just check out the videos

Plus he's got a nice NFL pension

But jesus why do they use OJ Simpson as a recruiter, thats ridiculous

People like OJ are never "broke"

Even if they lose all their money, they are still way better off than most people.

^ Exactly, you would think they would get people like Reggie Bush and Carson Palmer to call, not a freaking double murderer

Guess?

"OK, I'm going to State," Smith said. "I liked coach Sidney Lowe. I think he's a good coach. I liked the campus. I like the area. I've always wanted to play ACC basketball, and I believe I can step it up to the next level." "

made me laugh

Dare I say OJ is killing the program? Perhaps his actions are stabbing the Trojans in the back?

Rivals is saying that Tracy has yet to sign his LOI...is it just because he's going to sign in the late period, or is there something more sinister going on?

He'll be here..

If I was Mayo I'd concentrate more on making sure Jennings doesn't reneg. I've heard all sorts of rumors on him being a very 'soft' verbal..

[Edited on February 11, 2007 at 10:26 PM. Reason : but mayo is probably one and done in any case so that may not matter..]

I just worry about Tracy Smith qualifying still. I dont think its going to be a problem, but we really need him. There's talk about us going after Jai Lucas still over on PP although that rumor has been shot down repeatedly. I dont think Lucas would be a bad option if we think Tracy Smith isnt going to make it here.

When he committed last fall, on the brink of the early signing period the plan was to wait until spring signing period to sign his LOI. Provided his academics are in order, there shouldn't be much to worry about.

it wasn't shot down last monday (2/5) when jai lucas said on a local sports talk show that nc state was still pursuing him o.O

http://www.houstonsports.com/?pageid=61372
http://hsntapelog2.com/media/hicksshow1.wmv
it's an hour long video, so rightclick>save as.

transcript if you don't want to watch it.

Quote :
"Interviewer: “I hear there are some new schools in your mix in addition to your four. What’s that one school that the other four need to watch out for. I know there’s one school."

Jai Lucas: “Right now? I have to say that one school is North Carolina State just because of the situation. My grandmother is getting old and her health isn’t too good and it’s 20 minutes away from her house. And they have a great situation with Coach Lowe coming in and he’s an NBA coach and knows what that’s all about and they have a great recruiting class coming in. So you take a long look at that school, North Carolina State, that’s a long look.”

Interviewer: “Did that win over North Carolina effect you or had you been feeling them before then?”

Jai Lucas: “Oh no. I had been feeling them before then. Big wins doesn’t effect you. Seasons have their ups and downs.

Interviewer: “How far away is your grandmother?”

Jai Lucas: “20 minutes. My whole family, both my parents are from Durham. So that’s 30 tickets a game.”"

[Edited on February 12, 2007 at 1:18 AM. Reason : transcript, maybe we are going after him? i'd say there's a chance.]

Do we have any scholarships to offer?

ok, our scholarships are like this.

we'll have one next year that will go unused. the following year, the only person we, as people not in the know, are expecting to leave is grant, which will give us two open scholarships, but we have two players already committed for that season.

so we have one scholarship for one year, unless someone is leaving. the popular theory is that bartozs is going to transfer.

Bartoz or Ferg should transfer for the good of the team.

Ferg's already transfered once.

If he did it again, he might as well give up basketball, because he'll be like a junior in college before he ever plays.

It's not like he has a future in it. Find a team where he will get a little PT and have fun.

i know it'd be a shitty thing to do to him, but is bartosz really deserving of a scholarship? i don't want lowe to get the rep of taking them away from kids, but seriously the only thing dude has going for him is that he's tall. he'd have been only (at best) a tiny bit of help off the bench this season, next year he'll be worthless.

i think ferg will be pretty good if he sticks around. he got hype for some reason. he can shoot the three. give him some time and he'll get comfortable and eventually find his shot. sometime next year probably.

bartosz tho...gah we better take his scholly

^ /agree, once ferg gets comfortable and not scared shitless when he touches the ball he'll be fine. bart, i dunno, maybe he'll be alright, but i'd certainly trade him for jai =/

ferg just hasn't settled in, yes it is taking him what seems to be longer than most, but give him time...as for bartoz, hope he transfers, if not waive him goodbye

i really hate when ferg is playing. he rarely postively affects a game. now maybe i'm just short-sighted and he'll be a great asset to the team in the future. but it's really not looking that way now.

If ferg is in the game, we are definitely winning or definitely losing -- no in-between.

To be fair, hasn't it been like a year and a half since he played ball and even then it was high school and he missed half a year before that. I can understand it taking a while. But, he does still need to produce some time soon.

Tracy Smith is coming here. And give Bartosz a chance. He's been hurt and if he develops into what the coahes think he will develop into, he'll be a real threat at center for us.

Bartosz is a practice player and nothing more (Or at least from everything I've heard)

And I haven't read this thread, but many people are saying Smith will never qualify for State. Probably old news and been covered, just chiming in

^^He is currently injured. But I've seen the coaches work with him on playing defense and being a rebounder

^We already have point guards in farnold degand, marques johnson, and then Julius Mays committing here.
