to them it may not be as big a rivalry as Duke, but it is rivalry. if Wake Tech has a football team in Division 1, there would be some sort of rivalry just because they are down the street. that's just how it goes. according to your logic, Michigan State v Michigan wouldn't be a rivalry. it is. not as big as OSU, but its a rivalry nonetheless. to them it may not be 'thee' rivalry, the same way ECU is not 'thee' rivalry for us, but it is a rivalry.

furthermore, their players and fans do get pumped about playing (and beating us), especially the grown up ones that live in the area. its a big deal around the water cooler for both sides. everything i've seen in my life tells me its a rivalry. it may seem like its not because we've significantly underperformed against them, but it is a rvialry nonetheless.

and even if it wasn't a rivalry, we hate them enough for it to be a big deal.

by this logic . . . ND vs Army isn't a rivalry game because it is pretty much a given that Army is gonna get pounded. I think anyone involved would tell you it is a big deal.

And there is plenty of hatred for one another between State and UNC fans. If they didn't care they wouldn't keep making the effort to paint the free expression tunnel blue before games.

ok lets define TIERS of rivalries then to make my statement more clear...

1) Active Rivals - teams that when they play records are completely tossed out, and anyone can win. Intense hatred always, regardless of seasons, opponents each team plays. Favorite teams include your school, and the one that the other one plays.

2) Historic Rivals- teams that have played for what seems like forever, even if both schools suck and nobody cares, the teams still play.

3) Dead Rivals- used to be a rivalry but isnt one anymore, due to scheduling, change in conferences, etc



i was at the fucking game on saturday, as i was 2 years ago, and the 2 basketball games in the Dean Dome. i hate their fucking guts more than they hate me, thats for damn sure.

i never said there wouldn't be any leaks. I said there wouldn't be any "new" info. With Fowler running the show, we're not gonna have a coach waiting in the wings. The only info between now and next week is if Amato is going to be fired or not and there have already been plenty of rumors from "reputable" people about that.
