I will admit though that was a pretty weak call in the box for the penalty, didnt look like it was a blatant foul which is usually what it takes to get a PK.

We were doing really well until Uruguay. It was a complete fluke that we won that match. For those who didn't see it, Uruguay scored an own goal in the 87th minute to make it 1-1, and we took it in extra time.

Kitbag has home shirts for $41 each, available in all sizes. They're UK-based, so I don't know what shipping would be, but the shirts are $70 each from US Soccer.

Quote :
"LISBON, Portugal (AP) -- American teenage soccer star Freddy Adu has agreed to play for Benfica and trained with the Portuguese club Tuesday.

The 18-year-old attacking midfielder, who has been one of the highest-profile stars of Major League Soccer, arrived in Lisbon on Monday to negotiate terms.

"Freddy, when we signed him, was one of most talented young players in the world. I think, today, he still is one of most young talented players in the world," MLS deputy commissioner Ivan Gazidis said. "What we've struggled with is the expectations, not that we've placed on him, but that the media has placed on him."

MLS and Benfica agreed last week to a US$2 million transfer fee for Adu, the U.S. captain at the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Canada in July."

Benfica wanted Freddy years ago, and I wish we'd have let him go. Then maybe he'd be going from Portugal to the EPL like C. Ronaldo did at 18 instead of just arriving in Europe at that age.

Why aren't we harvesting more American talent in foreign clubs? If they were playing sooner in foreign clubs, even the farm clubs, they'd probably be better suited for our international events.

you have to keep in mind that 1) you can't just place americans in europe and 2) mls != usa soccer. if it's not good for the mls to sell freddy adu, then they're not going to, whether it'd help the us national team or not.

I followed on a play-by-play.

Lost 1-0. I guess it's best called an "experience friendly".

We played Sweden even in the first half. Second half Sweden came out guns blazing. They got a goal when one of their forwards got the ball and Cherundolo was defending him went to the ground.

Dempsey had a very early opportunity to put us up but muffed it.

We consistently crossed the ball into the box and they consistently cleared it cause their defenders are taller.

Michael Bradley did not have that good a game. Our best player was Howard. He made a point blank save to deny them a second right after the first. For Sweden, Ibrahimovic was on fire second half.

U.S. fans were rueing our lack of forwards and calling for the coach to be fired. So what else is new.

Beasley had a good first half. Dempsey's lost his instincts around the goal IMO, he doesn't look hungry enough.

Yeah, he went to the ground because the Swede used both hands to push him to the ground. It was definitely a missed foul call. Agree with Howard being the best player though, he made a couple of great saves.

^It was the same ref that called Canada for offsides in the Gold Cup when they tied the game in the closing minutes vs the USA. It's karma.
