it probably would have been better for us to just get our asses handed to us against UNC. I love the fact that we beat them, but god damnit if NC State sports teams dont give you the slightest bit of hope only to disappoint time after time after time. I'm fucking fed up with this shit. I know we're undermanned, and the losses in BB this year dont hurt for days like they did in football and bball last year, but this is fucking annoying because we can look so god damn good at times, yet we revert back to a bunch of high school freshman for 10 minutes a game and it kills us.

I stopped watching about 3 minutes into the second half and went to the gym...it was painful to watch

Basic Gameplan:

1. Get ball down low to McCauley and Costner (Priority!). McCauley should be touching the ball once every time down.
2. Switch to 2-3 and 1-3-1 zones when Atsur is having trouble with guard penetration. Even if it's for just two possessions, it'll disrupt their offensive flow.
3. Fells and Grant NEED to be more aggressive, think drive and attack the rim. They take way too many jumpshots. Fells can make some but Grant does not need to be shooting 3s all the time.
4. Box out and rebound.
5. Fells should run point when Atsur is not in the lineup, not Ferguson and definitely not Grant.
6. And most importantly, defense creates offense. Better defense, causing turnovers and causing bad shots can lead to easy buckets. We need more of those.


We basically didnt do any of that today, hence we lost to a horrible Miami team.

yeah it was a shitty loss, but we won't finish last in the ACC .. I don't blame Lowe at all, we tried going inside for most of the day (no success against their zone) until we were down by double figures and forced to start jacking 3 pointers, which just wouldn't go down .. you'd be stupid to think that Sidney Lowe didn't recognize we were getting out rebounded.

You can't win them all, and this holds especially true with our roster. Once Lowe gets his recruits playing and then we start pulling this kind of shit will I be really concerned.

not to mention FREE throws ....

Yeah I think people are forgetting that the UNC game was a huge UPSET, as in, we weren't supposed to win at all. If you think we can replicate the best shooting % since some game in the 80s every game and put up a stellar defensive effort running on heart and adrenaline all game, you're wrong. But I will agree that they looked dead and had no hustle until the end, felt like they went into this game expecting to win like UNC did against us. We definitely could have won this game easily if there wasn't a lid on our basket all game and why we didn't take it down low more often baffles me, except that in the beginning Miami's scrappy defense caused us a lot of jump balls, misses, and turnovers when we took it inside. Overall horrible and shitty game to watch and the condition of both Atsur and Fells after this game are a serious cause for concern.

Seems like between free throws, turnovers, and not getting rebounds, one or more of those three always haunts us in games like this that we should win.

Given that Atsur is clearly not feeling well, Horner's done broke his face, Fells' done broke his ass, and that Grant is a turnover machine except for when he is slashing toward a basket, I would say the rest of the season is looking fairly grim.

In the following years to come, with Lowe's number 11 recruiting class coming in, and his first actual team, thats when you can expect stuff to happen.
