I've always got extra boards when I skate. I think you'll like it. Shredding a turn on a board is just as much fun as in a car.

Yeah I've been thinking of trying to run some cones to see how much i like it

I currently have a GFH 27" that may not be super fast at cones but should be loads of fun

Saturday i'll be busy but Friday or Sunday should be ok.

Do you have any cones? If not one of us can grab a pack of solo cups. I've got a tape measure. Have any chalk?

what sort of setup do you have on the GFH?

I know they sale skateboarding specific cones but im wondering if i can find some small cheap ones with a small base at Dicks or somewhere like that


the GFH has their 3" trucks and their wheels with small risers. Im thinking of trying out some of my larger wheels though to make it stick a little more.

Hey guys,

I plan on taking a big snowboarding trip out to Wyoming this winter and I need to practice before I go but I live in Raleigh and can only make it to the mountains one or two times before I leave. Do any of you think longboarding could substitute, atleast partially, for snowboarding practice? A friend of mine said it would help a lot but I wanted some more opinions before I drop the money on a longboard.

For the most part it will help you especially if you get a board that has more a snowboard feel. There are actually some boards that are designed to replicate snowboarding.

I would say something with ~40in wheel base would do a good job of feeling like snowboarding.

I'd say so. Those look like Revenge trucks which are nice carving trucks (so I hear), the wheels look ok and a deck on top of that is worth 100 for sure... Especially if it really is in 2 hrs from new condition.

It was a good entry board. I dont ride it much now, just too much other stuff to ride

Its kinda an interesting ride because mine had Randal 150 trucks which i usually associate with a shorter board. The result: a pretty carvy fun ride.

I also did quite a bit of bombing on it


overall just a good all around board and once you out grow it you can swap around its hardware because its all pretty decent stuff.

Here is the hill at Hobby park in Winston-Salem where we ran GS and Downhill Sunday. DH speeds were in the 40s and watching the pros run GS was amazing. A lot of skill to shred cones at 30+mph. Group A started at the top on a starting ramp, and group B started midway down the hill.
