Just got offered Lance Berkman for Roy Oswalt. I really need HR and RBI, while I'm fairly strong and deep in pitching. I think I'm going to pull the trigger, anybody see any reason I shouldn't? Berkman's had a slow start, but he's a pretty solid bet to put up good numbers if he stays healthy.

Man, it's hard to say. Personally, I never like giving up a quality pitcher for a power hitter. You know how the Astros make those late season runs. Oswalt might help late.

yeah, I agree, I wouldnt do it...there are several hitters out there who will put up Berkman-type numbers, but not as many pitchers who will win you around 15 games and have a high strikeout count

Oswalt is a mid-to-high tier pitcher while Berkman is an aging middle tier hitter

you could probably get a better hitter for Oswalt than Berkman, especially if you packaged him with another decent pitcher or hitter

i just traded posada and mussina for dice-k. I have john buck on my team to replace posada and i feel like there are plenty of guys generally on waivers who are just as good as mussina who gets hurt all the time ( i picked up lincecum).

Tim Lineceum (spelling?). Young pitcher for SF is making his first start today. His minor stats this year were something like 0.29 ERA with like 66 Ks in 45 innings. He is supposed to be sick as hell. I got him on two of my teams.

yeah but he also shows no signs of slowing down. i can understand if its some no name player who's doing really well, but beckett is a pretty big name himself. if he can stay healthy, he's the frontrunner for the cy young

"if he can stay healthy" is a big if. Until last year, he's never played a full season. Johan is a proven commodity, best pitcher in baseball consistently the past 3 years. I wouldn't blame you for holding onto him but I would be proactive and try to improve and Santana is the best there is.

so the guy I am going up against this week who pulled a few wins out of his ass in the pitching position. Even a few of his middle relievers got wins.

Naturally, Maine got a ND and Lowe had a Complete game Loss, so I started streaming pitchers to catch up in wins.

Harang won for me today and I streamed Escobar, who also looks like a win is coming.

I'll be down 4-2 win wins but have until Sunday night. Any pitchers out there (who likely arent picked up) have good matchups tomorrow who are probable starters?

i am so fucking sick of picking up pitchers who have lit the world on fire only to suck cock when i start them. i just picked up moyer and marquis, who have a combined like 2.30 ERA and tonight its around 6.00. seems like every week i just spot my opponent a huge ERA. add to that halladay and suddenly tim hudson is my only reliable starter

if anybody is really hurting for a closer (I've been trying to piece together 2-3 solid closers all year through trades but the other managers are stingy bastards) then Toronto's Jeremy Accardo might not be a bad pick-up

Once BJ Ryan was declared out for the season, the backup Jason Frasor was benched in favor of Accardo. Since I picked him up a few days ago, he's got 2 saves in 2 opportunities and for the season has 19 K's though 17 IP with a 0.00 ERA. With my luck, he'll fall apart soon, but if you are looking for closer's this guy could end up being a steal

^^ If you can get Shields, then that would be a great pickup. Otherwise you might be able to get Bush from him along with Oswalt. Bush has started out crappy, but he's a low BB, high inning guy and now that the Brewers are good, he should be in line for 14-16 wins if he stays healthy.

question: should I play Orlando Hudson at 2B today or Robinson Cano? Hudson is putting up all types of better numbers than Cano, but the Yanks have a double header today, so he'll get probably 8 at bats to Hudson's 4...I'm leaning towards Cano

also should I play Damon at OF? I'm thinking he'll play the whole 1st game and maybe pinch hit the 2nd or something? any ideas? hopefully they'll just put his ass at DH

^I'd play both Cano and Damon...even if Damon only plays one game, he'll get as many AB's as whoever else you play, then if he plays at all in the second game it'll be a bonus

^^I just picked up Casey Blake, he's consistent for the indians, and has been for the past couple of seasons. He has found a way to get into the batting order almost every game, plus he brings power, average, and can even steal a base every now and then. He's listed as a 1B, 3B and OF in my league, so he can play multiple positions if another player has a day off.

Dan Johnson has been tearing the shit out of the ball the last few weeks. He has a 15 game hitting streak right now too. Garko is hitting over .300 and was on Rome today so he's got that going for him too...
