I might be mad if Sendek had went to another ACC school, but I wouldn't denigrate the actual school. All of the schools in the ACC are great academic institutions. They're some of the top schools in the nation with some of the top students. I mean State built the nation's first university nuclear reactor and established the first university nuclear engineering educational curriculum. That's a pretty outstanding accomplishment.
I was in Boston when BC was playing in the Car Care Bowl, and I was in this bar. They had the game on, and to my surprise most of the people in there were pulling against BC. A lot of people in Boston don't like BC, especially the students of all the other colleges in and around Boston. This is mainly attributed to a common theme amongst a lot of BC people in the thought that they are the Notre Dame of the east coast. 6/24/2007 11:32:52 AM |

Maryland plans to expand Byrd Stadium. Rather than tear down Tyser Tower and build a mirror image upper deck on the South side of the stadium they plan on expanding and renovating the tower, which should be completed no later than 2010, and could be ready by 2009. That's Phase I of Maryland's proposed expansion. Phase II which the completion date has not been determined will add a two deck structure to the West side of the stadium which would be above the curve of the U-shaped stadium. It also includes lowering the field (thank god) so that the bottom ten rows will have better sightlines. A second jumbotron in the West side of the stadium will be ready by the beginning of this year's season. Deborah Yow, Kay Yow's sister and Maryland Athletics Director, is making a big push to get approval and funds raised for the $50.8 million (all paid for by Maryland Athletics) project.
Phase I
Phase II
Quote : | " Phase I (August 2010 delivery - pictured above):
* Dramatic expansion of Tyser Tower * Addition of 64 luxury suites featuring indoor and outdoor seating * Addition of 500 mezzanine-level seats featuring heated and covered seating * New Presidential Suite with seating for 200 * New work areas for television, radio and print media * New work areas for coaches and game-day operations staff * New team store * Enhanced seating for disabled customers * Installation of a new state-of-the-art video board above the west end zone.
Phase II and beyond (Undetermined delivery):
* Installation of railings on stairways to enhance fan safety and comfort * Installation of chairback seating in the 200 level of the north side * New restrooms and concessions on the south side * Lowering of the playing field to improve sight lines for the first 10 rows * Painting of roofs along the concourse * Expansion of the Gossett Team House to improve athletic training and locker room facilities * Addition of nearly 8,000 seats in the west end zone, bringing capacity to about 60,000." |
It's kind of funny that prior to Maryland's back-to-back 5-6 seasons, they were originally talking about expanding to 80,000, haha.

Problem with that Maryland stadium expansion is theyre adding to the side that already has seats...why not put seats in the empty side, thats why the stadium isnt loud because the stadium isn't a bowl all the way around to hold the noise in. 6/27/2007 12:50:45 AM |

Brass Monkey All American 13560 Posts user info edit post |
They can't really form great attacks on us, so they resort to putting down our school. Let's compare.
Stadium - State Fans - State History - BC (b/c they had Flutie who won the Heisman) Weather - State Academics - Well this is subjective, but the perception is that BC is a better school, but we have more programs to offer so I don't even want to get into this discussion Training facilities - State Natural Recruiting Base - State Tailgating - State, even with the restrictions it is still better than BC's and I went to the 05 game so I should know. Band - State (Their band ignores the NCAA rule that the band is to stop playing once the opposing team's offense has broken the huddle. They play this annoying cadence with the trumpets playing an incredibly simplistic one to two note melody. Hate the rule or not, you should at least abide by it.) Drivers - State (Boston has some of the worst driver I have ever seen, so TOB will have a less likely chance of getting in a wreck on the way to work now , obviously this is just a joke criteria) Campus - I guess you'd have to give it to BC, it's situated beside a lake, has some gothic architecture like Duke, but I couldn't really tell how nice the buildings were, b/c it was a night game, and the part of their campus I was on was poorly lit. Just b/c a building has an old design doesn't mean it's nice inside. Old East and some of the other old buildings in Chapel Hill come to mind.
So when TOB says factual information such as it's easier to recruit better players at NC State (due to the natural recruiting base in the area) and that State fans seem more passionate than BC fans (college sports are huge in the South), it's not hard to see why he chose to come here when presented with the opportunity, and those fucks in Boston are just to naive to realize why it was a good move for him.
