it's not hard to improve on .274%. He doesn't knock down free throws particularly well. If he does continue to shoot better, he'll become one of the best scorers in the league. He's a great athlete. Few have his combination of size and speed.
But you could say that exact same thing about several players in the league.....LeBron James.
I really wish we'd draft Nick Young. He seems to be exactly what we need. A sweet shooting two guard with good size and strength. THen we could go after somebody like Sean Williams at 22. or pick up a big in free agency.

no Nick Young unless we are trading down to get him
We can move these picks, we have our last 4 lottery guys, and two of them are legit starters on any team. Ammo cant find his shot most of the time, and May could be damn good if he stays healthy.
Mj just try doing this, in this order
Call Gforce and tell him why he should be loyal to us for resurecting the career of a guy thats only 24 and that he shouldnt burden us for anything more than a midlevel offer.
Explore Gasol if offered
call Rashards agent and tell him 6 years 60 million
give New Jersey a call
give LA a call for shits and giggles
call the Clippers and see how cheap we can get Spagetti
Ask about Grant Hill
Draft Day take Brewer if there at 8
If not take Noah, im beginning to see this guy and he personality might be what we need
At 22 take Morris Almond
If a few of those could happen, welcome to the playoffs in 2008 6/21/2007 4:21:25 PM |

^ I like all of that but NBA players usually only have to chances to cash in on big contracts and this is Wallace's chance. Unlike NFL contracts, in the NBA the big number matters. I don't expect him to be cheap. I am starting to warm up to the idea of Noah too. I don't think Brewer will still be there at 8. Noah doesn't seem to do anything really well, but he seems to be decent at a lot of parts of the game. and size does matter.
I agree about Nick Young not quite being worth an 8 pick, but he'll be gone at 22. But he just seems like the exact player the team is looking for next to Felton....Besides Brewer. 6/21/2007 4:56:51 PM |

60 million for 6 years won't even sniff Rashard Lewis...You have to realize that Bill Simmons is just a fan, not a guru
I don't think Lewis is worth more than that, but he'll probably get a Larry Hughes type deal...70 for 5
And Gerald Wallace wouldn't even wipe his ass with a midlevel offer
I say offer Wallace the 60/6...He's 3 years younger than Lewis and is only getting better
He's 6 years and in the league and only 1 year older than Al Thornton 6/21/2007 5:13:28 PM |

^^ nah, he's a guru. He definitely knows as much about the current NBA, its history, and cap situations as anyone else that writes on the subject... He does a great job at putting into perspective what others fail to do.
G.Wallace is legitimately worth $10/million per season he's that good of a player. And since players go to the highest bidder then his "market value" should be in the ~$12 million range.
Rashard Lewis is legitimately worth about $11 million per season and will likely get damn close to the max.
Thats why G Wallace is a better value signing than Lewis.
Midlevel offers (we don't even have one to give as of now) would be a slap in the face to G.Wallace

Brewer to us at 8
and Brandan Wright going 10 to Sacto
no way Bwright keeps going if hes not a top 7 guy
I can almost bet we grab him, so id much rather him be picked earlier

Updated: June 26, 2007, 3:15 PM ET
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte Bobcats forward Gerald Wallace will become an unrestricted free agent Sunday after deciding not to extend his contract for another season.
Wallace's agent, Rob Pelinka, said Tuesday that Wallace -- who led Charlotte in scoring last season at 18.1 points a game -- will explore all options. Wallace, who made just over $5.5 million last season, will likely command at least $10 million a season under a new contract that could run as long as six years.
Vice president of basketball operations Bernie Bickerstaff is expected to fly to Los Angeles to meet with Pelinka shortly after the negotiation period begins Sunday. New general manager Rod Higgins will also be involved in trying to lock up Wallace.
"Rod and Bernie have indicated to me and Gerald that re-signing him is a top priority for their franchise," Pelinka said. "Starting at midnight on July 1, Gerald and I will start evaluating his options and ultimately make a thoughtful decision on what his future will be."" |

hopefully we can resign Wallace quickly. 6 years and $60 million is about what he is worth right now, BUT if he can get significantly more than that somewhere else and he takes it, it might set the franchise back a few years.
also, I'd like to have Gasol too, but I don't think he's worth a role player/unfortunate starter (Brezec) and three draft picks (in this of all drafts). 6/26/2007 3:47:25 PM |

Quote : | "Suns talking to Cats about getting No. 8 pick
By Andy Katz ESPN.com
The Phoenix Suns are discussing a trade with the Charlotte Bobcats for the No. 8 pick to get into the NBA draft lottery, multiple sources close to both organizations told ESPN.com Tuesday night.
Although Phoenix forward Shawn Marion can opt out of his contract at the end of next season, a source close to the Suns told ESPN.com that he is not part of a Charlotte deal and is expected to stay put.
ESPN's Jim Gray is reporting, however, that Marion could be part of a three-way trade that would land Kevin Garnett in Phoenix. Marion would go to Boston and the Celtics would send the No. 5 pick in Thursday's draft and players to Minnesota.
The Suns source told ESPN.com that role players were involved in the proposed trade with the Bobcats, but at least one other team besides Phoenix and Charlotte is also involved, making the deal difficult to pull off.
The Suns currently own picks No. 24 and 29 in the first round while Charlotte has Nos. 8 and 21. Phoenix convinced the agents for likely lottery players Corey Brewer and Joakim Noah of Florida and Jeff Green of Georgetown to work out for the Suns because they felt confident they could get into the top 10.
The Suns also invited Celtics executive director of basketball operations Danny Ainge and coach Doc Rivers to watch the workouts in Phoenix. The Celtics and Suns both told ESPN.com, however, that Boston was there to watch the workout, not to discuss a trade. Both said the Celtics and Suns aren't trade partners for Boston's No. 5 pick.
The Celtics could throw a curveball at the rest of the lottery. They are working out USC junior guard Nick Young on Wednesday morning at their practice facility in Waltham.
Young, who has been projected by most NBA personnel to go as high as No. 13 to New Orleans, is a personal favorite of Celtics' assistant general manager Leo Papile. Papile wants Ainge and Rivers to see Young before Thursday's draft and decide if he is a viable alternative for the Celtics at No. 5 if the team decides against going with China's Yi Jianlian. Young, considered one of the top shooting guards in the draft, could displace Green, Noah or Brewer as the Celtics' Plan B.
A surprise Young selection that high in the draft would obviously change the entire complexion of the lottery." |

Suns are wanting to trade Marcus Banks and Boris Diaw
Both have shit contracts and we shouldn't take either one; it would undermine what we've been trying to do for the past 3 years
Suns have 3 huge contracts in Nash, Marion and Amare that they won't be able to afford Barbosa even if they trade one of the big 3
With him and Felton we'd have the fastest backcourt in the world, and he's big enough to play the the 2 guard vs. most players 6/27/2007 10:02:22 AM |

Quote : | "LARRY BIRD EXCEPTION -- This is the best known one. Players who qualify for this exception are called "Qualifying Veteran Free Agents" in the CBA, and this exception is a component of the Veteran Free Agent exception. This exception allows teams to exceed the salary cap to re-sign their own free agents, up to the player's maximum salary. The player must have played for three seasons without being waived or changing teams as a free agent. This means a player can obtain "Bird rights" by playing under three one-year contracts, a single contract of at least three years, or any combination. It also means that when a player is traded, his Bird rights are traded with him, and his new team can use the Bird exception to re-sign him. These contracts can be up to six years in length. A player can receive raises up to 10.5% of the salary in the first season of the contract. This exception is known as the Larry Bird exception because the Celtics were the first team allowed to exceed the cap to keep their own free agent, and the player happened to be Bird." |

However, sources say they are not the front runners to get the pick. Several other teams are offering better deals for No. 8, including the Sixers (offering No. 12 and No. 21), Warriors (offering Monta Ellis and No. 18), Grizzlies (???) and one mystery team that the source refused to disclose." |
