I wanted to seriously even if nobody believes me but they don't do spreads on 1-A versus 1-AA games.
I even asked in the thread here in ST if you could bet on it.

^ i was thinking the same thing, watching the highlights. At the State game on Saturday, it looked like our Backs were in slow motion most of the time. Andre Brown seemed to just walk around in the backfield waiting for blocks before he started running. But Jackson and Edwards (and Hillary) are just off like bullets!

Striving to makes its dreams [of holding the U-M offense under 50 points] come true … ----- Seriously, we're all for Michigan playing ASU - as long as the 'A' stands for "Arizona." As one local talk show host might ask, was Shania Twain not available? -----
Josh Helmholdt: I apologize, but I have to revisit this Miss-South Carolina-attending-Appalachian-State thing one more time before Michigan kicks off against the Mountaineers on Saturday. Listen, I dated plenty of girls in college for their beauty instead of their brains, but I didn't go showing them off in front of my friends. Ok, I did, but not long enough for them to open their mouths and let the cat out of the bag.
Before ASU was added to Michigan's 2008 schedule, how many of you as Americans knew anything at all about the university, even where it was located? The rest of the country that has not had a local team schedule Appalachian State knows just as much as you did…. that was until Miss South Carolina railed about the poor South African kids. Now they know it as the school of former beauty pageant contestants in dire need of maps and such.
Trust me, ASU has much bigger image concerns on their plate than this impending blowout.

hah, just finished watching the game and damn. Jackson looked like he had rockets attached to his feet. Edwards has happy feet though and throws across his body way too much, leading to a couple turnovers that could have been costly but michigan just couldn't take advantage. Hell, michigan intercepted the ball in the last few minutes and then had their field goal blocked which would have put them up by 4. Then the blocked field goal to end the game. wow.

I was actually at this game on Saturday. I passed up the Pack's season opener to go to the Big House since it was probably a once in a lifetime opportunity. It was an incredible game, I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Michigan's introduction was very traditional. They didn't have any kind of buildup or cool music, the entrance was pretty disappointing. Their band coming on the field was more exciting than their team. Their fans however were surprisingly very nice to us. I sported an App State hat and about 4 seperate Michigan fans around us asked us where ASU was. They were very nice all the way up to the end of the game. It was almost like they didn't even realize what was happening to them. I am definitely sticking to my previous notions that Michigan is the UNC of the Midwest. Quiet fans, real proper, pretty much they were all pussies...granted we weren't near any UM students but still. 9/3/2007 2:24:11 PM |

hah, I wish I could find the quote I was reading earlier. I believe it was from an App State player who was asked if he was intimidated by the Big House, he said "nah, not really. It was quiet. Besides, we've been to NC State" or something to that effect.

It didn't look like happy feet more than the way a boxer might stay light on his feet.
Quote : | "Hell, michigan intercepted the ball in the last few minutes and then had their field goal blocked which would have put them up by 4. Then the blocked field goal to end the game. wow." |
By the same token, the ASU freshman receiver could have held on to a sure touchdown and michigan wouldn't have even been in the game.

head coach of Leniore Rynne or whatever the fuck that school is said App State is the best football team in the state of north carolina.
I have to say that they are really damn good and stand a chance to beat every team in NC this year(if they played all of us), but that is a ridiculous statement. You have them play every team in NC a couple of times and they will win a few games, but not consistently. If Michigan took them seriously, they would have won by 30.

I don't think that statement is too outlandish. They should have beaten NCSU last year, and they would have if Edwards had been starting. App had 4 takeaways and threw an interception in the endzone. Obviously we won, but I would much rather play UCF or Wofford than App State right now. 9/4/2007 4:25:37 PM |

...and if Rivers had been starting, we would have put up 80 on them. So what?
Changing the starting QB doesn't change the fact that our offense ran all over them, while they couldn't run the ball against our D. App showed nothing in last year's game to even indicate that they were in it.
and where the hell are you getting four takeaways from? The stats only show two (one interception and one fumble recovery).
