GD Auburn, 2 fumbles on your last 2 plays. You got bailed out with the wide left FG attempt.

Just got back from the ECU-UNC game. Atmosphere was awesome the whole game. Sellout of 43000+.

UNC was burning ECU's secondary. All their touchdowns except for a punt return were off the long ball. 5 and a half minutes in UNC had 10 points off of two long balls, just as many points as VT's offense had at home in 60 minutes last week. I turned around to my dad and told him that VT was going to get killed tonight by LSU. Looks like I was right.

Very open game for both offenses. UNC's QB Yates is really good. He could throw the ball on the money deep. ECU has a porous secondary that we can take advantage of if Beck progresses well before we play them. ECU's QB Pinkney played much more intelligently than he did last week. I heard his numbers postgame and it was like a seasoned veteran. He dumped the ball for the open screen when he could, he got rid of the ball when he needed to.

Twice I thought the game was going away and UNC would win. When it was 17-7 in the 2nd quarter for Carolina and when it was 31-31 late and Carolina was driving after the missed FG.

ECU was helped that they had no turnovers, and I think UNC had something like three. ECU's kicker...dear Lord. He was wide left, hit the left FG post, and wide right from 30-40 yards. Both teams' special teams were absolute crap. ECU wound up 2/5 on FG, and let Carolina run back a punt for a TD. Carolina had an onside kick recovery called back for offsides, missed an extra point, they suck on kickoffs, and botched a potential game-winning FG late that gave ECU the ball at midfield.

Funny story at the end of the game. 2 seconds left and ECU's kicker is on to win. He'd already missed three at this point so I just said to everyone "HAVE FAITH IN THE KICKER!" Then UNC called a timeout to ice him. My dad tells me "I don't think you can ice him, he's already as cold as he's going to get." Nails it through the uprights and stadium goes nuts. The goalposts were not taken down by the fans. The stadium crew took them down on their own very quickly. First time ECU had beaten UNC in 35 years.

Postgame, I heard on the radio that Skip Holtz before the game-winning kick told his kicker: "Why did the head coach go to the bank? To get his quarterback." The kicker just looked at him dumbfounded. Interesting way to calm your kicker when he's trying to win the game.

If State's on their game, we can beat both of them I think. But we have to do much better on offense.

I was sitting next to the UNC fans and band. Good thing as I'll be near the State fans to cheer with them when they come in October. Jerry Stackhouse walked by me and sat with the UNC fans in the 2nd quarter.

Who was it that said last week that VT is overrated?

They were right. I think they've been getting the serious sympathy votes in the polls.

If GT can't at least make the ACC championship this year, then Gailey should be getting some serious heat. They're looking like the class of the ACC at the moment.

and USF finally ties it.

Does anyone else get the feeling that South Florida are going to become a big Florida college football juggernaut in a couple years? Think about what conference they're in, they essentially took Miami's spot after they left. (And Miami are declining.)

South Florida has done a hell of a job of building that program in a very short period.

Leavitt has been really impressive.
