What annoys me is the plot is going to involve (sigh) *more* time travel...

I guess these people never learn.

After having watched the trailer in the link posted above, I am starting to almost hope that zombie Roddenberry rises from his grave and prevents this movie from coming out. Now that I think about it, though, I believe Roddenberry was cremated and his ashes were taken on one of the shuttle missions? That being the case, zombie Roddenberry should "beam" himself back together and bring this crap to a halt.

Ugh, the trailer is pretty bad.

And I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that more vitriol will be directed at Quinto's performance than Pine's. I was fucking laughing every time they showed Spock.

^ I think he did. I heard JJ was going to throw something in at the beginning of the movie that would piss off hard core fans and signal that he is truly "rebooting the franchise" (talk about the move overused phrase of the decade).

Wasn't the best trailer, but it looks a heck of a lot better than the past 3 or 4 Trek movies.

I found the kid to be annoying at the beginning. Just because Kirk is adventurous and all that doesn't mean he had to be a complete dumbass when he was little.

Seems like it was trying to make young Kirk look like young Anakin Skywalker. I HATED young anakin.

No, I liked him. I prefer to think of Anakin and Darth Vader separately. Anakin being played by the various homos in the prequel movies.

I would love to borrow James Earl Jones' voice to talk dirty to my girlfriend.

"I am your father!"

^Yeah. Darth Vader is definitely not Anakin. Keeping that separation is the only thing that makes the OT still watchable.

We don't really need new star wars. I think star trek is pretty fucked too. In my opinion there have only been 3 worth while star trek movies

Wrath of Khan
Undiscovered Country
First Contact

Enterprise was a great concept but started off wrong with that whole temporal cold war thing. That was so stupid. I think the last two seasons of that show were the best. I forget the episodes, but the story arc with brent spiner was awesome.

they need to go 10 to 20 years into the future (hell it's been almost that long) after the last movie. pickup with DS9 characters, TNG characters, and new characters.

This man speaks many truths.

And why are they building the ships on the ground? Doesn't it make more sense to build them in orbit?

I wouldn't think so because you'd have to wear a space suite to do it. If you can fly the ship out of orbit why not build it on the ground.

It seems like they could just have robots build stuff, but unlike starwars they have only a couple decent robots even though they can teleport and make solid holograms and all kinds of stuff that starwars people cant do.

no no no

Iw as saying 20 years in our time.

When Lucas is thankfully dead and someone with real passion and vision can renew the starwars franchise.

So much material being wasted.

The transporter is the greatest weapon ever made and they don't ever use it right in star trek. The transporter would make ships worthless too for traveling. If such a thing existed it there would basically be a giant space internet where people moved around in packets from one router to the other.

The ultimate geek fantasy... "now i'm faster than michael phelps bitches"

^ Yeah I figure they should just beam a bomb onto the bridge of another ship or something.

You'd still want ships though for traveling through space and discovering stuff.
