Why does that make it worse? I'm pretty sure the majority of us aren't vindictive and actually wish Herb success... it really doesn't have much of an effect on us at all...

a lot of fans have a sour taste in their mouth because they wanted herb gone so bad because they thought he was holding the program back. now that asu has prospered and ncsu has taking a turn for the worst, they are bitter about it...they want him to fail.

Davis, Werner and Horner. Certainly not a Fells, Costner, McCauley type class... but pretty good. Especially considering Wright was coming the following year.

Quick question... did Herb start the Hickson recruitment or was that all Sidney? I can't remember...

I think Rivers originally committed to cO'Caine, but he was the first 'commit' that Amato went to see and reaffirm the commitment becuase he knew we needed a QB. (Although Olin Hannum was awesome )

i think we are seeing what herb can do with support.

tough to recruit when you have a kid come to a game and our "fans" boo the coach during intros.

i can't remember who it is was we played in the NIT in Reynolds but when Sid walked out with the red coat the place just erupted like he was a fucking rockstar

I gotta say that game was one of the best sports experiences I've ever had (so many hardcore state fans)

what the hell happened

^^^^ you know, I'm beginning to think Herb was the guy who started his recruitment. I read somewhere that Hickson said on WRAL that the only reason he even considered NC State was because Herb personally called him. Then I found something that countered that... I don't know.

Trying to find a link...

Herb is definitely the guy who started his recruitment, because Lowe had to re-recruit him, and he said he was still on his way because he liked the "feel" of the new coaching staff. Uncertainty and all...

i think hickson was all sidney

from some random recruiting blog:

Quote :
"On April 19, 2006 Scout.com had the following to say about JJ Hickson:

Ohio State is showing interest in this highly ranked prospect from Georgia. Considered the #20 prospect overall in the 2007 class. Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida State, Georgetown, Kentucky, Michigan State, Purdue, South Carolina, South Florida, Virginia Tech, Wake and New Mexico State have offered. He is also listing Arizona, Georgia Tech, Miami (FL), North Carolina, Syracuse and Virginia.

Notice anythings missing from that statement? That is right, NC State was not even on his long list. Fast forward to August 17th, and that very same profile listed the following:

Hickson has a final 7 of Florida, Tennessee, Georgetown, North Carolina State, Arizona, Kentucky and Illinois.

So in a matter of four months, NC State had gone from not even being in the same tournament as the big guy, to sitting at the final table for all the marbles. There is a lot of speculation on just how Hickson got hooked up with Sidney Lowe, and this is what I have read about it.

Now this is an unconfirmed rumor, and all of the details are not clear, but there appears to be the possibility that Shareef Abdur-Rahim had something to do with this recruitment. It’s not uncommon for recruits to get calls from NBA players in hopes of swaying their college choice. It is rumored that Shareef did just that, or spoke with JJ in person about playing for Sidney Lowe. When Sidney Lowe was the head coach of the Vancouver Grizzlies, Shareef was one of his players. It just so happens that Shareef went to the same high school that JJ Hickson now attends. Whether or not there was an actual contact between the two, and as to who sparked the interest is unknown at this point. It could be that Hickson liked State but had not been recruited yet by the Pack, and Shareef found out about it and gave Sid a call. It could be the exact opposite. I really don’t know, but it is still a fun story to wonder about. Could Sid’s NBA experience already be paying off?

No matter what happened, one thing we know for sure is that on October 12th, JJ made his decision public, and he announced that he would be attending NC State University. The fact that a kid this high on all of the recruiting boards would pick State is simply unbelievable. I want to once again point out that he was offered scholarships to Georgetown (infamous for it’s success with big men), Florida (the defending national champs), Arizona and Kentucky."

I want Herb to succeed, but I hate hearing analysts saying "do you think NC State fans are questioning whether it was smart to run off Herb Sendek" and "I bet Herb Sendek is feeling vindication with his team being ranked and NC State having trouble right now". No, Herb more than likely doesn't feel good about it. I know he's extremely pleased with his team, and I'm happy for him, but I'm sure he wants the players that he recruited here to do well. Also I don't think he's vindictive about us. He put in 10 years of hard work here and knew and respected the tradition here. He became part of it. He left b/c he got a 50% raise at a job with way less pressure and expectations. Also he didn't have to worry about his daughter being taunted in school by a few stupid kids acting like their crazy parents. It was a good fresh start and now he has a chance to become the face of a program. Perhaps even get the court named after him if he does well enough. Who wouldn't want that (especially the 50% raise part)?

On a side note, how fucking bad has Arizona been the past couple years??? Tons of talent, lottery pick this year, etc. Their still stealing recruits and they're piss-poor, plus Tucson sucks balls unless you love dirt, rocks, trailers, and 30 consecutive days over 110 degrees.

I think most people just want him to lose so

a) threads like this will die
b) So they don't have to listen to all of you Herb apologists touting how great he was/is even though we watched it with our own two eyes for 10 years and can make our own decisions.

home game vs. Washington tonight at 9pm

no TV

Brockman averaged 24points and 15 rebounds this past weekend against Oregon State and Oregon, so Pendergraph will have his hands full with him

Harden might be out after tweaking his groin against Stanford, so obviously that will be a huge deciding factor.

down 32-30 at the half

James DID play and has 13 at the half

Appleby has 3 fouls, so does another of their starters

the difference is their 6 threes to ASU's 1
