If this is true....looks bad. I know he played poorly last year, but he was still a gifted player with potential...and you never know how he will turn out his last two years.

Athleticism sucks on the front line, though. The guys coming off the bench at all positions aren't really that athletic, either. There's Johnny Thomas, but he's a total n00b.

Fells is pretty athletic and if what they say about Costner being in great shape is true, he'll be able to run a lot more. Against really fast teams it might be a problem, but if Fells hustles like he needs to being a senior leader I don't see it being a huge issue.

Fells in one player in the backcourt. It's simply wishful thinking to believe that a front court with no athleticism is going to be anything more than average.

The athleticism of Grant and Hickson in the front court will be sorely missed. Rebounding will be especially tough for us this year.

It's too hard to tell. If it's true that Hickson was messing with the team's chemistry a lot then McCauley and Costner could have really good seasons. Tracy Smith is kind of an unknown at this point. Fells is pretty consistently solid with the occasional breakout game. I honestly don't think we have any front court depth though and that will be a problem. But if we get the players from 2 seasons ago back the starting lineup could be pretty good. It's too early to tell though because of how badly everyone played last season.

For us to be good, Costner has to play they way he did in the ACC tourney for the whole season in order for the offense to be effective. I don't think that's a realistic expectation. Also, if ben plays as he did that year, he won't be as effective. Teams have figured him out and adjusted. He needs to add a mid range jumper in order to be as effective.

Looking at the guys and skills we have, I would say making investments in defense will yield the biggest payoff for us. I don't think we have the pieces to have a good offense.
