hopefully a lot.

god damn it I hate when ESPN or any other TV station does this. the PIP with info on the outside, especially during the NFL draft and other things like that with info around it. it cuts off the whole HD picture. its already running in the bottom line, we don't need it all on screen too

The "no 3 teams from the same conference" rule is fucking idiotic. Raise your hand if you think 9-3 from the weak as hell Big Ten Illinois deserved to be in over 11-2 "our only losses came against Oklahoma and we were #1 until Saturday" Mizzou.

I've got money that says OSU, Michigan, and Illinois all lose by more than 2 TDs.

Kansas avoided Oklahoma and Texas this year, the schedule gods really aligned things for them this year. Beamer will embarrass Kansas. Going through the Big XII and not having to face Oklahoma or Texas relegates it to a mid major conference. Illinois, what a joke, I'll leave it at that. Mizzou got jobbed, but, it's no surprise because when you lose your conference championship, it's fresh on everybody's mind.

^^^^ I agree, I think Tenn/Mizzou got fucked by that rule. Tenn did finish 9-4 but they destroyed UGA.

Why does the Rose Bowl think America cares about tradition? We clearly sent a message with the creation of the BCS all we care about are matchups and $texas in Vegas.

The Rose Bowl cares about selling out. For so many years, the champs of the Pac-10 and Big 10 played to go to Pasadena. That's what you aim for. It's really not changed since the BCS started. This whole "national championship" is complete bullcrap, it's not real, it's as fake as a porn star's orgasm. So why throw away what you always looked forward to doing for a system that claims it is something it is not. In 2000 when Purdue made the Rose Bowl I was ecstatic. It was the first time they'd been there since the 1960s. I didn't care about the national title game, Purdue could go undefeated every year and the college football powers would figure out a way to not invite them to the national title game. So why should they aim for that or even care about it?

You know, screw the BCS. Lets return to the Mythical National Championship.

Why is that sad? College football has had the worst postseason system imaginable for decades. Attempting to fix it is not a mistake, not going all the way with it was. I could not care less about tradition, it has virtually no bearing on today's college football landscape. Screw the Rose Bowl's incestuous love affair with Michigan/OSU and USC.

I'd love to see the Big Ten and the PAC-10 split from the rest of college football, they'd find out then just how irrelevant they really are. College football is a regional fascination, it does not have the national appeal of the NFL, MLB, NBA, or March Madness.

College football is a mess. The BCS works no better than the Bowl Alliance before it, or the numerous "national champions" crowned by various organizations. Teams are now trying to schedule for the BCS, it's no different than with past systems. Hawaii is left out of the title game because teams won't play them (wave hello, Michigan. Wish you hadn't bought out Hawaii and played App. State yet?), OSU is in because the Big Ten doesn't have a championship game and the SEC and Big XII do. It's a mess.

Playoffs are a completely viable option, anyone who tells you differently is full of shit. You'd only need a month. OSU will go about 50 days between their last game and the BCS championship, LSU, about 40. Anybody think we couldn't squeeze an 8 team playoff into 40 days?

^^The only one that will be even marginally close will be LSU vs. OSU. I'd put 20 on that game with no hesitation. I'd feel bad about taking your money on the others, but if you're up for it I'd got at least 20 on each.

You are correct IMO - there should be some scheduling standardization among conferences.

Yep. I've made that argument before as well. Vastly different styles in different parts of the country makes for impossible comparisons accross conferences.

No. You said ALL three. So if any one of them is a win or a loss by less than 14 points, I would win.

So how much?

How much do you want to wager? If you want to run it as a parlay you'd have to give me some kind of odds. I was talking about individual games, but hey, make a suggestion and I'll put some cash on it.

Illinois will lose.

If Michigan decides to show up, they will win. There's no way of knowing, with how inconsistent they've been this year.

ohio thtate could go either way. Game will be settled by less than 10 points.

Irrelevant? Who other than the Big 12 or SEC can realisticallly challenge the Big 10 for fanbase? Why do you think the Big 10 always has three of its games at a minimum televised nationally every week? Why are almost all of the bowls that the Big 10 playing in on either New Year's Day or Eve? Why is their bowl payouts much larger than what the ACC will get in comparison?

It's because their fanbases are large and their TV ratings and because they have the fans that watch the games on a national scale.

Fans determine strength and power, not some bulls*** system that most everyone hates.

And Georgia wouldn't have brought that? All I'm saying in big named schools, you don't have to worry about selling out.

Or do you mean selling out like a "rockstar"? I can see that then it that case.

Why do something that is so unpopular? But then why join up with being called a BCS game?

I like tradition, but I like common sense even more.

Here's a little secret... no one cares about the Big Ten outside of Big Ten country, just like no one cares about the SEC outside of SEC country, and no one cares about the PAC-10 period, even inside of PAC-10 country.

It really is a regional thing, if you don't understand this then there's nothing I can do for you.

Oh, and no, Ohio and Michigan are not in the northeast. Buy a fucking map.

The only time the nation as a whole pays attention to college football is right now when they attempt to determine a national champion. Granted, it's much the same with the NFL, except that everyone pays attention to the NFL playoffs and the Superbowl. Look at college basketball, regular season is sort of so-so, but who doesn't do a March Madness pool at work? The two most unproductive days in the American economy are the monday after the Superbowl and the first Friday of March Madness. Coincidence? No, and college football could create that kind of interest if the folks in charge just pulled their heads out of their own asses.

Someone had to take Hawaii, and their fanbase is limited. It wasn't going to be the Rose since they had the first pick after Ohio State got picked up in the national title game. It would not surprise me in the slightest if the Sugar said they'd take Hawaii, but needed Georgia to balance it out.

If you're a Georgia fan, is going to the Sugar really a step down from the Rose? No. And plus it's a much shorter drive or flight.

The number of Purdue alumni in the state of North Carolina alone is about 20,000. When I went to the Wake Forest-Purdue game in Winston-Salem in 2003 the number of Purdue fans was equal to Wake's fans present.

Now take those numbers in mind, and realize that Purdue is one of the smaller state schools in the Big 10. Extrapolate those numbers for Penn State, Ohio State, and Michigan.

Hmm, my folks live in Ohio and I challenge you to find one person there who considers that to be part of the Northeast. Michigan... even farther North and definitely to the west of Ohio. Nope, Ohio and Michigan are pretty much solidly midwest.

Ah, I see what's happened. Vernacular mismatch.

Yeah, they're in what is typically referred to as "midwest." Sorry about that - until I moved out of MI I'd never heard it referred to as being in the midwest, because if you look at a map, it is most definitely in the northeastern quarter of the country.
