Cueto with a stellar 1.2 innings and 7ER outing
glad i didn't waste my waiver

This trade I made was vetoed like crazy. I then added Carlos Silva to the deal but that got vetoed too. For some reason, the other guy really wants this trade to go through (even though it clearly benefits me).4/29/2008 9:37:54 PM |

4.1 innings 7ks no hits. And the astros are a pretty decent team. I'd say he was well worth the pickup even if he just spot starts here and there. 4/30/2008 6:58:13 AM |

^^haha i just picked up Kemp yesterday since today was a short day...he went 1/5 with an RBI but also had a stolen base so I'm up in that category 1-0 this week (apparently me and my opponent are slow as shit since nobody had a steal until Thursday) 5/1/2008 3:42:43 PM |

Yeah I got Kemp 2 days ago in my TWW league
decent today like you said, and 3/5 yesterday with 2 steals and 3 rbis yesterday
dude hit .342 in almost 300 at bats last year so he's shown he can produce
[Edited on May 1, 2008 at 3:47 PM. Reason : steals are gold in fantasy...runs and rbi are good, homers are really nice, but steals are alpha ] 5/1/2008 3:45:54 PM |

And the hits keep coming. First it was Harden (not too surprised there). Then Smoltz goes on DL with no timetable to return and as a reliever at that. Now Tulowitzki goes on DL (although he hasn't done much) and out until the AllStar break. And BJ Upton strains his shoulder swinging.
I've picked up Jhonny Peralta to take over Tulo and I had Kinsler on my bench who can play 2B should Upton be out for a while. But my pitching is getting lit up. I have to go 4 relievers and 3 starters now: Young, Snell, Shields, Papelbon, Nathan, Capps, Gagne.
We start any 7 pitchers in this 10 team H2H points league. 5/1/2008 8:40:18 PM |

Is Vlad Guerrero going to start producing? I mean he has always had low walk and high K totals but now he isn't hitting for average or power....should I still hold on to him or trade him while he still has come credibility? 5/2/2008 2:09:42 AM |

pretty good...starting Monday means he should also start Saturday the 10th at Chicago (Arizona doesn't have any off days between Monday and Saturday)
Until Scherzer fucks up at least twice and as long as Arizona keeps their hot bats going, I'm gonna keep playing him
They need to go ahead and give him SP eligibility though, but I don't think a pitchers gets that until they start 3 times]5/2/2008 12:30:58 PM |

Ouch though Philly and Chicago are two of the best offenses in the N.L....
Not sure if I would take that risk.... 5/2/2008 12:54:23 PM |
TreeTwista10 minisoldr 148437 Posts user info edit post |
yeah but his stuff is still new, so nobody really knows his pitches yet..theres always the chance that he has a couple great outings, then once the league gets to know him, he falls off the map like Johnny Cueto might've just done recently
plus he did a good job pitching to Houston...struck out the likes of Tejada and Berkman among others (Lee popped out...he struck out Bourn twice but lots of pitchers can do that)
besides, Chicago and Philly might have two of the best NL offenses, but Scherzer has THE best NL offense behind him
maybe i'll be wrong, but i'm gonna start him both times next week, unless he gets completely embarassed on Monday
also Carlos Guillen is about to have 3B eligibility after one more start (today)...good news for A-Rod owners like myself 5/2/2008 1:12:54 PM |

trying to sell someone on taking a pitcher in fantasy b/c his team can win 8-7 games isn't a solid strategy
[Edited on May 2, 2008 at 5:55 PM. Reason : btw, gallardo out for the season w/ torn acl]5/2/2008 5:49:12 PM |

so I can add Yiovanni Gallardo to the long list of people on my team who went on the DL this year. Torn ACL and probably out for the year.
Here's the list: Yiovanni Gallardo JJ Putz Eric Bedard Rafael Soriano Alfonso Soriano
and Victor Martinez was out for a week too
my lineup is great but my pitching is absolute shit. Anyone have any recommendations on another SP to pick up? And by another SP, I mean someone so obscure that no one in a hardcore 12 team league would think about them.

Adenhart of the Angels will probably get 2 or 3 starts before Lackey comes back if you're looking short term. He had very impressive stats in AAA.
Homer Bailey is another name although he didn't do too well the first time around. He's dominating AAA again and will get called up soon enough.
Watch out for Kershaw too for the Dodgers when he gets called up.

It's a long season. If you can sit Vlad for a little bit I think that would be best. You don't want to sell low and buy high (give Vlad while hes hitting shitty, only to end up hitting over .300) and I think Vlad will be ok. The power and speed may not be what they once were, but I think he's still a good 30-20 guy with a .300 avg. 5/3/2008 3:53:51 AM |

somehow I am in first out of 12 teams even though Rich Hill was a complete letdown, Gallardo was on the DL for the first month and is now done for the season, JJ Putz has been complete shit, Bedard, Alfonso Soriano, and Rafael Soriano have all been on the DL.
Here's my team...
Hitters:
Víctor Martínez (Cle - C,1B) James Loney (LAD - 1B) Chase Utley (Phi - 2B) Garrett Atkins (Col - 1B,3B) Jeff Keppinger (Cin - 3B,SS) Adam Dunn (Cin - OF) Kosuke Fukudome (ChC - OF) Alfonso Soriano (ChC - OF) Willy Taveras (Col - OF) Brad Hawpe (Col - OF) Miguel Tejada (Hou - SS) Joey Votto (Cin - 1B,OF)
Pitchers:
Jered Weaver (LAA - SP) Carlos Silva (Sea - SP) George Sherrill (Bal - RP) Brandon Lyon (Ari - RP) J.J. Putz (Sea - RP) Erik Bedard (Sea - SP) Shaun Marcum (Tor - SP,RP) Scott Olsen (Fla - SP) Brian Bannister (KC - SP) Tim Redding (Was - SP)
i just dropped hill to pickup Redding and dropped Gallardo to pick up Hawpe
