pretty sure that the pic posted above of the blue smart actually shows a previous generation model, not the new ones that mercedes ships over. There's only a few of those that were privately imported compared to the significant sales of the new car that has been officially imported, so I think this is a rare enough car to fit in the context of an exotics thread. 8/1/2008 3:16:57 AM |

Saw a late 80's or early 90's Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit headed down Pullen on the east edge of campus today. Couldn't get a good pic though. Between that and the Phantom recently, must be Rolls month on campus or something... 8/6/2008 3:44:10 PM |

Okay. So on I-40 ~4:30pm between the Airport and the 440/Wade split, I saw a C6 (silver) followed by a C6 Z06 (also silver) just a couple car lengths behind it. Then about a mile behind that, was a Red Ford GT. Then about 2 miles behind that what appeared to be an original ford Gt 40 (maybe a kit car?) sorry no pics, they were all in the other lane. 8/16/2008 11:25:32 PM |

I saw a black Lamborghini Murcielago headed south on US1 near 540 yesterday. I'm pretty much positive it wasn't a Gallardo, but I only got a glance of it headed the other way in heavy traffic so there is a small chance I got them mixed up. 8/17/2008 8:50:10 AM |

^^I was on the interstate the same time as you. I saw that red GT but no the other one. Unless they were both red, the red one was in fact a replica GT40, not a newer GT.
Shortly after that an orange De Tamaso Pantera cruised by going the other way. And then a Cobra 427 kit car. 8/17/2008 10:42:31 PM |

Took out a Ferrari 348 Spider yesterday.
Great, no, amazing gearbox. Best feeling transmission of any car I've ever driven.
200lb clutch or so it felt. Steering was heavy as fuck. Interior was pathetically bad, nearly none of the electrics worked at all.
That said, it pulled like a beast from 60 onward, and while the steering was heavy, it absolutely glided through the twisties. 8/18/2008 4:17:44 PM |

Hell yeah! I saw all that. I only caught a quick glimpse of the Ford and the orange Pantera, which I thought was the old Ford GT. I had some dumbass mexican trying to race me in his ghey toyota carolla It was bad enough when he passed me whistling out his window. Then he pissed me off when he was next to me in the left lane and swirved in his lane like he was going to side swipe me. If that was you TKE-Teg, I officially hate you.
That Cobra was hot. Saw several more around town around glennwood ave after I got off 40.
^, ^^^^, and ^^^^^ sorry I couldn't get a pic of cars going the other way on the hwy. Little hard to do...

i've seen two lambos recently. one gallardo and the other a gallardo spyder. attempted to catch the hardtop on capital, but i was in a parking lot and couldn't get out in time. orange spider guy looked like he was going to have a stroke in the car he was so afraid of my throttle blips beside him. he wouldn't do anything, just staring straight ahead with hands at 10 and 2 doing 5 under the speed limit.

What stood out to me was the perculiar vent on the front of the car, and yes your loud exhaust. It didn't stand out enough for me to think it was a V8 though (of course thats not really a natural train of a thought anyway).

Haha. Ferrari's namin system has always confused me a little. I mean, I know the numbers somehow corelate to the engine (whether its total displacement, displacement per cylinder, displacement + # valves per cylinder, displacement + # of cylinders, etc...), or the whole F series. I just don't even bother keeping up with it all anymore.
Quote : | "Yours looked like it was a paint job away from looking good " |
Ha, I appreciate it. Besides the worn seats, cracked dash, worn suspension, worn steering rack, cracked front valence, dented passenger fender, and 23 year old paint, (and drivers side door hinge that's about fallen off now ), yeah, it's in decent shape...
oh yeah, cracked windshield..
So, I got to thinkin. What are some exotics we haven't posted here on the board? Koenigsegg, Nobel M12, Z10, Skyline, anything else? Those are the ones that just pop'd in my head. We need to freakin catch (vid pics) these things like pokemon guys. LETS DO IT

About 10 years ago I drove a brand new F 355 Spider (unsupervised). It was amazing. The engine note was intoxicating, the handling breathtaking, and the gearshifter great (at this point in my life I knew how to drive stick, but didn't have a car to do it with on a regular basis so just driving a manual in a Ferrari was very intimidating!) 8/19/2008 6:24:40 PM |

^^there's a local guy on horspowerjunkies that has one of those, but i think it's been broken most of the time since he bought it. the same guy that had his nsx totalled on the dragon a while back if anyone remembers that getting posted here. didn't jsquared's family have a hardtop one too? or was it a 308...? the gated shifters are cool.
348 owners will tell you they're the last of the true "enthusiasts" f cars, but i think they're a poor man's ferrari also (not that there's anything wrong with that or that i could afford to own one).

I'm pretty sure that was a Mondial. Still a Ferrari, but one of the more plebeian models.
Audi R8 I saw last Monday in Cameron Village, first one I've seen in person: (sorry for the shitty picture, got it as it was driving away
That same day, I spotted this gem sitting in that little parking lot between Jimmy John's and Sylvia's Pizza, Aston-Martin V8 Vantage:
While it's not really an exotic anymore, this one I saw parked on campus in the Reynolds lot last Tuesday certainly was in its day and has always been one of my favorite cars. Porsche 928 S4.
I saw that old Rolls again today, but again failed to get a picture. At this point I think it's a Silver Spur rather than a Silver Spirit (the Spur is the LWB model). I'm going to call it early 90's. And I see Carlyle's black Gallardo so often I've become almost desensitized to it...but still a damn sexy car.
Good couple of weeks for exotics on/around campus.
