I think Smith doesnt start next year for this reason...

I think we can plug Mays or CJ Williams in at the 2 and slide fells to the 3, making us more athletic all around. Start Brandon at 4 and pray he's in better shape, McCauley where he's most comfortable.

I know everyone talks about how the freshman shouldn't come in and start from day 1, but fuck it. I don't think that should matter if they're that good, and the players that have a problem with it should quit being pussies and play better in practice.

Thats probably the only way to make us more athletic, unless you replace brandon at the 4 with Smith, which I could also see.

when you run a two gaurd set(like we would run if Javi and Farnold were both in) there would not be a true 2 gaurd, we would really have two 1 gaurds to play up top and both could run the offense

The truth is, you are correct. JJ didn’t “make Costner and McCauley jealous little bitches.” Allegedly sleeping with a teammate’s girlfriend and allegedly sitting out a game with a fake injury, just to see if the team could win without him should go over well with everyone. Even if the above has been fabricated, why would Costner and McCauley be jealous? In fact, when has jealousy been an issue for any D1 athlete? I can see you being jealous in the 7th grade for not making your middle school team, but D1, ACC basketball?!? Are we talking about JJ Hickson and Ben Costner or Hannah Montana and Lindsay Lohan? Please.

So I’m guessing you also forgot that Costner and McCauley lead State to an ACC final and deep run in the NIT? And forgetting that Costner was a 3rd team All ACC performer last year, as a freshman, and McCauley an honorable mention, must have also been a Freudian slip?

Flat out our basketball team sucks.

They have mismatched talent and horrid coaching.

Trying to pinpoint the blame on one thing is foolish. That team fucking sucks cock head to toe. There isn't one player on that squad you'd want in your rotation in a big game sans Ben McCauley. And he was horrid from start to finish this season.

Fells has talent but no clue.

Costner's yellow belly doesn't give a fuck.

Javier is a liability on defense and has limited offensive skill.

McCauley is too robotic and psyches himself out.

Ferguson is a borderline mid major rotation player

Tracy Smith is a "just good enough to get on the court without actually providing a positive impact" type player.


THat team is bad and I'd wager my life savings on them not going .500 in the conference next year.

Why would you want McCauley, you said yourself he was horrid. I'd much rather have Fells in my rotation, not as a star, but as a shooter.

That said, both McCauley and Costner both have potential based on their '07 seasons. It's tough to make a judgment about Tracy Smith based on his limited minutes, but I saw talent and effort there and look forward to seeing him play more.

And last but most importantly, the whole offense won't have to start with Javi anymore. This should be enough to give the most doubting fan a little hope for a .500 season.

You can't write off McCauley and Costner as lost causes based on last season alone. And Tracy Smith showed the most promise out of the remaining group...he just didn't get many minutes. He's a top 50 recruit and I think he'll be a good ACC caliber player. Remember, he's just a freshman, and you never know how players can develop.

Fells...well, we all know about Fells. I wouldn't want him starting day in/out, but he's a good bench player because of his shooting.

That's about it. I agree we are pretty bad, hell everyone does, but if you're serious with that post above, I think you've jumped off the fucking deep-end then.

From what I have seen he probably won't make it into the first round as it stands now. Seems like a big waste if he got drafted in the second round with no guaranteed contract. Why not comeback and get into the mid-first round.

I really don't see why people are getting on Rallydurham for that post. Yeah, he used hyperbole, of course, but the objective view is that we just aren't in a good position as a basketball program right now and without a killer '09 class, the future doesn't look so bright.

The indisputable facts right now are this:

- We finished dead last in the ACC last year.
- We are likely losing our leading scorer and rebounder.
- We have the 11th best recruiting class out of 12 in the ACC based on the rankings of most recruiting services.

The ONLY thing that can be looked about as a positive is that Degand will be healthy and is a massive upgrade over Javi Gonzalez.
