I need a place to live but I'm bummed about the selection out there

You looking to rent or buy? There is a Townhouse community up Old Battleground Rd that is pretty sweet. $600 a month for a 2 br, 2.5 bath. I was going to rent one before I lost my job. It's called Hampton Downs. Really big places too. 2 BRs and the full bath upstairs. livingroom, diningroom, kitchen, and half bath downstairs. Plus I think most of the units also have attic space.

My sister just bought (November) a townhome in Magnolia Commons. It's near the corner of Lawndale and Cotswald. It's 2Br, 2.5Bath. Attic, kitchen, laundry room, living room/dining combo, tons of closets, patio with storage. She paid around $80k for it I think. There are definitely a lot of viable options out there. Where have you looked so far?

Finally a place to buy decent beer!

The place is on N. Main in High Point but their selection is excellent and they get new beers in every week. Beer is sold by the bottle but there is enough in stock to make a 6-pack. Good variety, Trappist, Founders, Left Hand, Weyerbacher, Brooklyn. They can get most beers, they even called Big Boss to see if they could get Harvest Time for me. I would like to see more NC Beers, but when the only place to get beer in Harris Teeter, this place rocks.

Depending on what side of greensboro you're on it may be closer to travel to Burlington to Top Brews. It's just off 70 as you enter Burlington. They'll make an effort to get whatever they don't carry. There are also a couple Total Wines in Greensboro.

Total Wine on Battleground has some nice selections of beer. There's a place called Pipe and Pint on Spring Garden that has a decent little selection. If you are looking for something in particular the owner will get it for you. Went there for a cigar and walked out with beer instead.
