Singletary could have made it with the Bobcats....I think he could actually play well in the NBA. Sure he is small but he is really fast, has a good handle, and can shoot. Why couldn't he be the next Chris Paul?

[Edited on June 26, 2008 at 11:16 PM. Reason : Isn't the plan to make Felton a 2 anyway?]

Because he's not good enough. Chris Paul is just nasty and always has been.

At UVA, Sean basically was the whole team.....his junior year he had Reynolds but this past year he had no help at all.

That doesn't mean he can be the next Chris Paul. Chris Paul is probably going to go down as one of the top PGs ever. Singletary MIGHT make an all-star team or two...and that's a big might.

I know he probably won't be near as good but Paul just shows that size doesn't mean everything. I like what Singletary brings and wish Charlotte would have took a chance on him instead of Weaver.

Washington has a lot more NBA style talent... Lofton might catch on somewhere as a black Steve Kerr type

The chances of hearing "Its Gay to Love" at a Grizz game this season is apparently nil as the Grizz trade him & Miller to the Twolves for Jaric, A Walker, & Mayo

its funny how they talk about how we need to watch out for the 2nd round players because they can make a splash too, and then they reel off Manu and Monte Ellis as their two examples. whooptie doo

From Simmons draft diary this morning... perfect

Quote :
"5:24: Our first stunner of the night: Charlotte reaching for D.J. Augustin at No. 9, followed by a shot of a devastated Brook Lopez in the stands. Hey, any time you have a chance to grab a career backup with the ninth pick, you gotta do it.

(Do you think Charlotte's war room is located on the ninth hole at MJ's golf course? Like, it's basically him on his cell phone and two other guys on Treos trying to rush the pick in before they sneak in nine more holes? The Bobcats might be the worst-run franchise in the league. And that's saying something. If MJ's Bulls career was like Ted Danson's run on "Cheers," then his Wizards comeback was "Becker," and this current Bobcats debacle is definitely "Help Me Help You.")"

Congrats to MJ for another worthless draft.

Larry Bird had an expansion draft for the Pacers.

Congrats to CNNSI for using Courtney Fells' picture as JJ Hickson's draft shot.

With the exception of maybe the top 7 picks, I feel like this was a kind of random draft. It seems like you always have 2 or 3 guys going higher than you thought they would and 2 or 3 guys go lower than you thought they would. But it seemed like there was 10 of each of those this year.

Or maybe I just have a short memory and this happens every year.

i was hoping that when i woke up this morning and checked the newspaper i'd see that we had packaged some recently drafted players to trade for a veteran like we did last year

Mayo's got to be happy now. He looked like he was at a funeral last night when the t-wolves picked him...thinking about shoveling snow out of his driveway for the next three years.

^^ you should put quotes around your post when you copy someone else's words

like this:

Quote :
"but poor Mayo and his entourage look like they're consoling each other at a wake right now. Bad sign."

Quote :
"Not right now, not when he's coming to the realization he will be spending the next five years shoveling snow in Minnesota."

^Ha...you know I was thinking about that when I wrote that. I couldn't remember if it was a shoveling snow comment or not. Either way, its not fair when a sportswriter takes the two most generic comments...does that mean I can't use it just because Bill Simmons says the most obvious things??

Someone looks depressed = people are depressed when they are at a funeral or when they find out someone they are close to dies (the funeral/wake comment is used all the time).

A black kid who just spent a year in Southern California gets drafted by a team in probably the coldest city that has an NBA franchise = make some joke about something people don't like doing in the snow or ice.

^^ I was just busting your balls. Simmons does have a way of relating to what the average fan is thinking, though.

Ajinca is 20 years old and averaged 5 ppg in France. In the history of the NBA draft, has there ever been a player who averaged 5 ppg or less who turned into a decent player? Ajinca was a workout warrior, dominating some of the other big men in the past few weeks. And he has great size and skills. But can he turn them into production on the court? He'll likely stay in France to develop."

Seems like if you are drafting a foreign player to be a good team guy and help add to your team it works, but just don't count on them to be "the guy" to lead you to a championship.

They do play better team ball though, easier to convince a foreign guy to buy into your team system then get a college guy to sacrafice his 24 shots a game he is use to getting.

Might? They are. This is ridiculous. A day later and it's even worse looking at it. DJ over Lopez, a 7-foot goofball who can't walk over anyone (what's worse is it's a pick we traded for to prolly get Hibbert or the other Lopez), and Weaver over CDR.
