He's up 4th next inning first off and this isn't your typical situation -- i.e. - mid game. He was going to use 2 pitchers any way if ONE runner got in. At least he didn't bring Price in mid-inning...

he jsut couldnt risk pitching price for only one inning.... he could not have possibly sent him to the plate should he have come up next inning, cant waste any outs with the series on the line

So now he is going to burn 4 pitchers in 2 innings if they go down 1-2-3 this inning... no way a left handed specialist like Howell faces Burrell in the 7th... and you don't bring Price to face a righty mid-inning and then having to replace him anyway leading off the 8th.

^ the first job is to keep the game tied. I understand your point and in a typical situation I'd certainly agree, but this is a very strange situation. I'd feel more comfortable bringing in guy (and keeping this a tie game) who is used to the situation and treating it as inning 1, with a crappy clean up hitter!
