ha - i just watched last weeks double episode (haven't seen the finale yet) and came here specifically to comment on Victor and Topher.

They are clearly the only two actors on this show, especially Victor, who deserve to go on to anything else after this. The guy who plays Victor is great - really, really good range. Kind of makes me want to go back to the beginning of the series to when we thought he was a Russian mobster for several episodes, and he was totally believable, and watch him there and to remember what other characters he's played.

looks like i've had a man-crush on him, errr.... i mean his skills, since last spring.

and what I said about November is still true, except she is much less annoying when not playing Milly, or whatever her doll name was.

anyone gutting it out to the end?
I just watched E09, and I'd say the show is in full-swing for most of this season, at least since things started falling apart inside the Dollhouse. The difference between now and S1 is almost as punctuated as Buffy S1 v. S2, where they went from cheesy monster-of-the-week to full-season story arcs.
Still, though, the overall story is still a bit "out there" for network TV. maybe it did belong on cable or premium or something since the beginning.

oh yeah, and that group-think tech is a hell of an idea.

whoa - just watched The Attic. that was freaky. The writing and direction was totally Whedon.

Reminded me a lot of the dream episode, Restless, in Buffy season 4.

yea it usually thats a season and a half before whedon's show gets really good. unfortunately i do believe dollhouse is going to be canceled after this season.

Probably why the story arc has progressed so rapidly

Terminator wasn't cancelled "for Dollhouse".
Both of them would have been cancelled anyway

Fox did not want to continue with both shows due to scheduling and budgetary reasons. thus they needed to make a decision on which one to continue with. they chose Dollhouse over Terminator, at the time, due to the story-line being more malleable where they could make it into whatever they wanted to.

it seems like the whole "Caroline is a domestic terrorist" plot was thrust on us pretty quickly. I'm sure that was Joss's plan from the beginning, but that part of the story would have been much better if it was able to develop more slowly and organically instead of being introduced and jammed completely into the final couple episodes.

Also, still not too clear why Bennett has such a huge grudge against Caroline. OK, so they worked together to blow up the building, and Bennett wanted to go through with it even when Caroline tried to back out at the last second. So her getting hurt in the explosion is not Caroline's fault at all. Seems like she was mad that Caroline left her when she was trapped, but again it's pretty clear that was the best thing to do for both of them. I wouldn't buy that Bennett was resentful that she had to stay on and work for Rossom, because everything we've seen of her so far, she really enjoys her job at Rossom, like Topher does.

and oh yeah, Topher is awesome

^ I still am kind of in shock at what happened to Bennett at the end of the last episode, let alone who the head of Rossum is/was.

if you had never seen the original season 1 finale you would have been lost in the series finale. This was a show that tried to appeal to men and Eliza Dushku is extremely hot but she has very little acting ability and building a show around her was a mistake.

This show should never have been on Fox and may have done better on The CW actually on another night. Friday is almost a death sentence for a show.

one review I read guessed that the show was kind of a "favor to Eliza Dushku", which I can buy. Even shortened, it was Whedon's weakest showing yet, for many reasons, but mostly I think because 1) Dushku simply wasn't up the task of being a leading lady, at least not one that required her to change styles almost weekly (she was fine as Faith), and 2) the overall plot and mythology built up around the Dollhouse wasn't nearly as compelling as his other shows, and was somewhat restrictive.

Overall, I'm not really sad that it's over. Although I would hvae continued to watch if it kept going, i'm fine with it ending, if not only so it will free up Whedon to look for a new project.

If only they made Victor or Sierra the main characters. Those two actually had a good acting range, Victor especially.

i really enjoyed dollhouse, probably more than i did firefly. to me dollhouse seemed more complete and polished where as firefly was a show with a lot of unrealized potential.

I never really cared for Dollhouse, they should've continued Buffy.
