Fisher's suspension makes sense in the context that the league is trying to avoid retaliation. Yes, back in the day he wouldn't have been suspended. But back in the day he would get clotheslined in game 3 and you might get fists thrown, with off-setting techs. Could be fun but could really get out of hand.

For better or worse, the league wants to avoid being seen as the place where big (mostly black) guys get into brawls. It does clean up the nonsense and silly macho-BS some guys used to do (Laimbeer) and others would probably like to now try. But these guys train all year and with their strength, you would have worse results than 20-30 years ago. Fisher on a stretcher, Odom running away like Melo and Sasha shaking in a corner. Better to focus on the game and guys that are smart/clever enough to be physical within the rules. If you aren't a disciplined player, this will be tough and your team will suffer when you are suspended.
