You are aware of the playoff standing correct?

Oh wait that's right, you're just a troll.

I'm just following your boy bdmazur's lead from the Redskins thread

I do notice, however, by calling me a troll you somehow manage to completely dodge talking about your team and Brandon Jacobs at all.

I'll be back with nails for that coffin after the Cowboy game.

I'm not sure I follow your bdmazur comment...

And again, why would I want to have a football discussion with someone on TWW least of all an unknown like you? Are you going to school me with your knowledge of player ratings? I can tell you it would change my life for sure! Please go ahead and post all of your NFL facts so I may learn from them. Your knowledge of the team I've been following for over two decades is clearly vastly superior to mine, and I value it greatly. Now please spend your time wisely and post things for me to read.

so what do we have to look forward to in the off-season? any predictions? players/coaches dismissals or acquisitions?

Sheridan is already fired and rumor has it more coaches are on the chopping block, including Gilbride. personally, i think he needs to go too. there were a lot of boneheaded offensive decisions this season that left a sour taste in my mouth as well as many other fans'. as for players, i'm not sure who needs to go but i do know that those who were injured, esp late in the season, need to get strong for next season to be dependable. also, IMO Coughlin needs to get back to being a hard-ass. he got too soft on these guys and let them get away with sloppy playing. all-in-all tho, there needs to be a good amount of changes for the G-men to get back to being a respectable football team.

Bernard and Robbins (unless he takes a big pay cut) need to go. Bernard is so fat he seems to be unable to control his own body at times. $4 million a year was a fucking joke when we signed him and it remains a joke today.

Our D-Line rotation should include Tuck and Canty at DT (with Cofield/Alford/rookie or FA to spell), Kiwi at LE, Osi at RE (with Tollefson/rookie or FA to spell). Mike Waufle was fired so maybe the new guy will recognize the retarded amount of talent on the D-Line and wake those motherfuckers up.

Sintim should be roaming around blitzing the fuck out of the QB (think LT) on almost every play.

Boley seems like a solid LB and is good in coverage. I have no idea what's up with Antonio Pierce, and without actually being at practice and in meetings and in the locker room, I'm not real sure what we should do with him (though he certainly has been underperforming). I've heard he is not your ideal team leader, so depending on how bad he is in that department...maybe a trade? What could we get for him? How would the other vets feel about that? I'm not so sure that's the best idea though. Gerris Wilkinson has overstayed his welcome IMHO.

We can't possibly drop everyone in our defensive backfield (as I have wanted to do at some points during the season), so I'm just going to assume that Sheridan was the reason for the decline in these guys' performance from last year and the year before. Thomas has been improving I think, and Webster and Ross are still the same players they were last year. Dockery has to go. I say keep Bruce Johnson around for another year and see what he develops into. He made some major mental errors this year but I think with some solid coaching he has the toughness and playing style to be an effective player for us. I like a corner that will hit somebody.

C.C. Brown should ONLY be in the game for surefire running situations, and only because we have nobody other than Kenny Phillips at safety. Sha'reff Rashad was impressing in camp, so I think he should get another year to prove himself (although you would think he would've been able to make it off the practice squad before week 17 this year with the way the safeties were performing...not to mention we SIGNED Aaron Rouse when we had Rashad already on the team, so maybe he needs a little more time). I am tired of seeing Michael Johnson getting beaten, he should be gone. Rouse too unless the coaches think he's going to develop or whatever. I don't see it so far.

The O-Line needs something though I'm not quite sure what...McKenzie is too fragile and should be bounced in favor of Beatty (let's get a draft pick or two for him). I wish a big time left tackle would fall in our laps, but I'm not sure how likely that is. I love Diehl, but he's not quite what we need over there.

Boss is a good TE, but we need somebody with some speed and agility at the position. Beckum has been surprisingly nonexistent this year. Is Darcy Johnson a good enough blocer to stick around? And Scott Chandler and Bear Pascoe...who the fuck are they?

It remains to be seen if this year really was a product of injuries for Brandon Jacobs, or if he's suddenly turned into a 40 year-old man. Bradshaw is a beast. Enough said. I like Danny Ware and if Jacobs is fine for next I think we're good at this position for next season. I'm very interested to see Andre Brown get healthy as well. And hey maybe Mark Ingram will fall to us in the draft!

I think we are good at wide receiver. I think Nicks is going to be special, Manningham flashes brilliance (stop fumbling, asshole), and Smith needs no introduction anymore. I think Hagan (who's nice on Special Teams) and Barden could develop and give us a couple of big guys we can just toss the ball up to. Hey, Sinorice Moss...see ya later!

Eli had a career year at QB and there's not going to be any changes made there.

Did I forget anything?

Maybe we can trade Osi (if he's going to keep crying) and get Suh or Berry...not going to happen but that could be badass. What do you guys think about Terrence Cody? Russell Okung / Trent Williams? Brandon Spikes? ...Leigh Tiffin/Zoltan Mesko?

"Giants Express Interest in Romeo Crennel: According to The Star-Ledger, The Daily News, and The Bergen Record, the Giants have expressed interest in Romeo Crennel as possibly their next defensive coordinator. Crennel is reportedly also interested in working for the Giants.

The Bergen Record is reporting the Giants have contacted Crennel several times. The Daily News says the Giants will speak to Crennel again on Monday.

Crennel is the former head coach of the Cleveland Browns, and a long-time assistant coach for Bill Parcells, including with the Giants from 1981-92. Crenell was also Bill Belichick’s defensive coordinator in New England from 2001-04.

Crennel is currently on vacation with his wife until Monday. And the Kansas City Chiefs are also believed to be interested in his services."

I fully support this idea.

"Pepper Johnson Still in the Picture: According to The New York Post, the Giants have expressed some interest in former Giants’ linebacker and current Patriots’ defensive line coach Pepper Johnson as a defensive coordinator candidate. However, the paper says Johnson is considered a long-shot for the position.

Johnson is not eligible to be interviewed until the Patriots are knocked out of the playoffs."

Holy shit...

Quote :
"The Training Dilemma

1/13/2010

by Eric from BigBlueInteractive.com

There are two things a Giants’ fan is more sensitive about than a fan from another team:

1. How nightclub gun play can ruin a season.
2. How an accumulating number of injuries can sabotage a season.

Issue #2 has been a problem for the Giants for most of the decade. During the 2003 season, the injury situation was so bad that Tom Coughlin addressed it at his introductory press conference as new head coach in January 2004:

“I am also aware of the injury factor; the number of IR’s and those kinds of things, which is a cancer let’s face it. It is something that has to be corrected. It is a mental thing I believe as much as it is anything else.”

Unfortunately, since that day, the injury situation has continued to plague the Giants. Let’s look at the last six seasons:

2004: After a fast 5-2 start, the Giants finished 6-10. 18 players finished the season on Injured Reserve, including DE Michael Strahan, DE Keith Washington, DT Norman Hand, LB Barrett Green, S Shaun Williams, S Omar Stoutmire, and WR Tim Carter.

2005: The Giants won the NFC East with an 11-5 record. But New York was obliterated in the playoffs 23-0 by the Panthers. One of the primary reasons for the poor playoff performance was injuries. Starting at linebacker that day were Kevin Lewis, Alonzo Jackson, and Nick Greisen. On Injured Reserve were LB Barrett Green, LB Carlos Emmons, LB Chase Blackburn, LB Roman Phifer, CB Will Peterson, S Shaun Williams, HB Derrick Ward, and WR Jamaar Taylor.

2006: The Giants started off 6-2 but finished the season 2-6 and barely made the playoffs. The team was defeated in the first round of the playoffs by the Philadelphia Eagles. On IR by season’s end were DE Michael Strahan, DE Justin Tuck, LB LaVar Arrington, CB Corey Webster, WR Amani Toomer, LT Luke Petitgout, HB Derrick Ward, and KR/PR Chad Morton.

2007: The Giants won their seventh NFL Championship. Big injury losses included TE Jeremy Shockey, LB/DE Mathias Kiwanuka, and HB Derrick Ward. DT William Joseph was lost early in the season. But the number of players lost was not great. The biggest issue was managing Plaxico Burress’ ankle injury.

2008: The Giants started off 11-1, finished 12-4, and lost in the first round of the playoffs again. Plaxico Burress was missed after he shot himself. But injuries to key defensive linemen such as DE Justin Tuck and DT Fred Robbins slowed down the pass rush tremendously. DE Osi Umenyiora was lost before the season began and was missed. The Giants could not get any pressure on Donovan McNabb in that playoff game.

2009: The Giants started off 5-0, but finished 3-8 and missed the playoffs. Injuries hit the defense incredibly hard, including S Kenny Phillips, CB Aaron Ross, CB Corey Webster, LB Antonio Pierce, LB Michael Boley, DE Justin Tuck, DT Chris Canty, and DT Jay Alford. The running game was sabotaged due to injuries to HB Brandon Jacobs, HB Ahmad Bradshaw, HB D.J. Ware, HB Andre Brown, FB Madison Hedgecock, RT Kareem McKenzie, and LG Rich Seubert. QB Eli Manning went into a mid-season slump when he injured his foot. WR Hakeem Nicks and WR Mario Manningham were not 100 percent.

Who is to blame for all of these injuries? Injuries that ruined once promising seasons? Perhaps no one. Football is a violent game. People get hurt. Always have, always will. Sometimes it is the luck of the draw. Players are also bigger, stronger, and faster today. When you have bigger, stronger players moving at faster speeds right at each other, guess what’s going to happen?

But the Giants also seem to suffer from a lot self-inflicted muscle injuries, such as hamstring pulls. Chris Canty, who never missed a day in Dallas, missed most of the season with hamstring and calf muscle injuries. Aaron Ross suffered four hamstring pulls. The word “hamstring” was commonly seen on Giants’ injury reports. Why? Luck? Coincidence? Who really knows?

There is a school of thought out there that today’s modern-day athletes over-train. As soon as a season is over, they are training on their own before being expected to participate in intensive “voluntary” team strength training and conditioning programs. Then there are Organized Team Activity (OTA) days, mini-camps, training camp, a long preseason, and a grueling 16-game regular season. There is not much time to rest and recuperate those tired and aching muscles, joints, tendons, ligaments, and bones.

But the dilemma is this: with everyone training more and more, getting bigger, stronger, and faster each day, can a team afford to experiment and pull back? Can a team risk losing that arms race with other teams when jobs and careers are at stake? Perhaps the training is not the problem. Perhaps it is. It’s like debating global warming – everyone has an opinion and their own science – but most people are not quite sure.

What to do? Giants’ coaches, trainers, and doctors should comprehensively examine the issue, consulting with outside experts who have conducted research. Consider their findings and their suggestions. Don’t just assume all these injuries result from “bad luck.” That very well may be the case, but what if it isn’t? Perhaps there is a better, smarter, and safer way to train professional football players."

I've never gone back and looked at how many injuries we've had season to season. That is fucking staggering and someone should be gone.

That does seem like a lot, but I'd like to compare it to injuries on other teams. I feel like every NFL team has a decent number of injuries every year. The Giants could have more...but they could also be average as well.

My dad has been rambling on about all our injuries for years and talking about the strength coach and yadda yadda. Never seen an article like this that I can remember however. Remember I didn't write the article I just posted it.

I just feel like every fan rambles about injuries when the team isn't doing well. It also seems like every team has a lot of in injuries every year (I feel like San Diego has a ton of injuries every year...there could probably be a similar article written about them)....not just the losing teams.

People always like to point fingers when a team isn't doing well. I just don't think the Giant's injury problems are any different than the other 31 teams in the league.

^ Yeah I don't think either one of us has ever even addressed the other in a single post in our TWW histories, nor do I have the first clue who you are, so I'm just going to continue ignoring the sports talk trolls.

Also, please feel free to email the author of the article about "whining about injuries," as I have clearly neither agreed nor disagreed with him. My opinion that the Giants need a new strength and conditioning coach can hardly be spun as "whining," even by a bunch of "experts" like you guys.

Have a nice day!

"Bill Cowher Wants to Coach the Giants?: According to former Steelers’ running back Jerome Bettis, Bill Cowher, the former head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers, wants to be the next head coach of the New York Giants.

“I think he’s going to be with the Giants,” said Bettis on a Sirius radio interview. “I believe he’s going to be with the Giants. I think that’s the team that he really coveted. This is where he always wanted to be. The Mara family, he’s been very close to them…He’s known them very well and was on the inside track, before the Giants won the Super Bowl, for that job and I think he’s holding out for that opportunity if it presents itself.”

“He would have definitely gotten the job (after the 2007 season, if the Giants hadn’t gone on a run),” Bettis said. “And if Coughlin doesn’t get that team back in the right direction next year I think they’ll pull the plug.”

“That’s what he’s doing (waiting on the Giants’ job),” said Bettis. “That’s where he’s got his eyes. Let me tell you the one thing I do know. I do know, because he told me, he doesn’t want to go anywhere that doesn’t have an established quarterback. He said he’s tired of doing the let me find a quarterback thing because in Pittsburgh he never had a quarterback until Roethlisberger and then he was like, ‘Hey, I’m ready to go. I finally got a quarterback.’ That’s not what he’s going to do again. He’s going to have an established quarterback wherever he goes.”"

^^^Quit crying. I'm just saying that I don't think the Giants' injury bug is worse than any other team.

That's just my opinion. I could be wrong, but I think if you analyzed every other team's injury issues...the Giants would be right in the middle of the pack...MAYBE towards the top of the pack, but nothing as bad as that writer or you are making it out ot be.

Which you haven't done, and which nobody else has proposed or even cares about.

It was an interesting article for Giants fans, which is why it's posted here.

You guys seem to have wandered into the Giants thread thinking it was something that pertained to you, and are very up in arms about some sportswriter's article. Anyone care to explain why the injury subject is so sensitive around Sports Talk? It's as if mentioning injuries somehow makes one less of a man. Don't make me laugh. Nobody in this thread for the entire season has blamed anything on injuries. All it takes is one article for you guys to start shitting yourselves and hurling your troll feces all over the place?

You guys need to take a time out and get a breath of fresh air.
