yea its bullshit that players like kjlestan and beasley are starting ahead of him. does it ever happen where the coach gets fired a year before the world cup when the team has almost qualified?

somebody tell me why we suck so badly...

i dont know anything about soccer, nor do i like it, but when USA plays i really get into it i guess for patriotism and looking for an upset since we seem to always be the underdog

are we too slow? not endured? not skilled enough? bad scheme? do we just not have kids in america who wake up and breathe soccer for 8 hours a day like all these other countries???

who can give me a fact based answer on this

i think u summed it up davey with all of the following

"are we too slow? not endured? not skilled enough? bad scheme? do we just not have kids in america who wake up and breathe soccer for 8 hours a day like all these other countries???"

plus we have Brett Favre, Tiger Woods, and Terrell Owens coverage to keep us occupied!

coaching.

we've got players who play enough/are good enough skillwise, they are just coached wrong. we lack the correct tactical coaching to be great. we need better coaches in america than these average college coaches and mls coaches..

add to those things

no expectations or legit goals, no accountability for players and coaches, being content with mediocrity, more concerned with making money than making progress

it's really a top-to-bottom culture with USSF. Our team is obviously in big trouble right now regarding the World Cup but our fuckhead president is more concerned with hyping up bids to host in 2018 or 2022

AND

we treat the national team as a reward for players who have put in their time or are playing decently for their club team

Our coaching isn't great, but Brazil has players starting on some of the top European teams and our top players start in MLS and the smaller clubs in Europe. There is a big difference between Rangers, Fulham, Manchester United, and AC Milan.

Self-righteous high school and college coaches who've never set foot outside the US somehow find themselves in charge of coaching professionals, be it in the MLS or for the USMNT

The skill is not missing in the american game. It's a ball. You kick it. Not hard.

It is, however, improperly cultivated and grown.

End result is US players get on the world stage and find themselves thoroughly outclassed, because the coaches aren't cognizant of the things that make a team or players competitive. They don't know how to teach players to recognize things, because they themselves don't recognize them.

How many games have Iraq and Egypt won against the top teams in this tournament? One very poor minute of soccer vs Brazil was the difference between Egypt losing by 2 and losing by 1. I will say they have played better though.

and there's the problem with US Soccer

I'd rather have a team that shows heart and comes back to score goals and actually competes with a top team in the world, regardless of end result than this team that either gets completely embarassed and sits back and takes it like little bitches or plays boring, shitty soccer and either scrapes by with a win, or ONLY lose by 1 or 2

lol at big4...

and a big lol at another red card...

i put a basic idea of why we arent at the top in soccer and kiljadn explained it fully...its that simple. we have plenty of talent with our players, just not the talent in the field...im hoping some of these players playing now who play in europe are taking this all in and maybe they will turn into coaches that can help turn things around
