wow. i'm 24, and have both an older and younger brother. a prank voicemail would HAVE to be incredibly disrespectful for me to respond that harshly. like, throwing around the cunt word and crap like that. even if it did wake me up.

i do feel a bit sorry for the sister... that stuff can be beyond irritating and stressful, esp in the middle of the night

my brother spent a fair amount of time turning himself into an alcoholic and in the meantime decided it would be a good idea to start calling me in the middle of the night and yelling vulgar things, letting his buddies do so, and in general just being a total asshole. some nights he wouldn't stop and i would just have to turn the phone off as I usually had work the next day.

for about a week (when i had to get up at ~5am each morning for a special work thing) i did block his number from calling my phone. the one benefit of him being drunk was he couldn't figure out why the calls weren't working. but that was about the extent of it. never ended up telling him to delete it or change my number.

And I haven't totally read into the entire thread, but something tells me the issue goes much deeper than just friends calling up David's sister. this is what iiiiii think. since everyone else has chimed in

a) i can't imagine this happening in my family because my brother and i are semi close. if he did this i'd just be like "you're annoying and immature" and that would be the end of it. or i'd ask for the friend's phone number and call them and say the same thing.
b) i wouldn't tattle tale to my parents on another adult sibling. and if i did, my parents would be like "ok thanks for the info, work it out yourselves"
c) i am a heavy sleeper so my cellphone usually doesn't wake me up BUT
d) i usually sleep with it on silent or vibrate just incase...not even to avoid prank phone calls, but just to avoid any sort of late night call if i need to be up early. including my friends being like "OMG WE ARE OUT AND SO DRUNK WHERE ARE YOU"

that said, i agree with the other posters that have said it seems like this is the result of a buildup of it happening more than a couple of times and/or there are other underlying issues (per the bitchy email this is what it seems like since she said they'd never been close blah blah blah)

random side note: prank phone calling people can result in harassment charges. true story. happened to one of my friends recently.
