Looked pretty but it felt like it was about 4 days long

2.25 out of 5 stars imo

[Edited on December 18, 2009 at 3:34 AM. Reason : Southpoint midnight screening wasn't even close to sold out either]

please tell me michelle rodriguez isn't in this. isn't that the foot-faced, droopy dead-eyed women's empowerment actress from resident evil. what a distracting eyesore she would be

wtf is his obsession with cartoonishly bloated machismo in his hispanic actresses

Damn. I thought that movie was fucking awesome. If anybody in here is worried that James Cameron is too old, got rusty, or just in general lost his touch, let your worries be cast aside. Avatar is fucking awesome.

I watched it at midnight, and I really didn't think it dragged on at any point, it was really enjoyable. Paying for the lack of sleep now, but still worth it. Though I do expect that shit would be rough in 3D with all the action and effects.

Hope this movie is going to be good, I'm really excited about it.

As far as the CGI debate:
The original Star Wars kicked ass
The last 3 sucked and for me the overuse of CGI was a big part of it (and that jar jar thing)
Puppet Yoda >>>> CGI Yoda no matter how good they did animating him

That being said, even though we can do much better today, the CGI in Jurassic Park still kicks ass.

Hopefully the CGI in AVATAR will be good and not look like a video game. Hopefully the script and plot are decent as well.

Pretty amazing movie in many ways. Story fell a little flat in the second half but the action sequences were out of this world.

my work took us all to see it for free yesterday. i wouldn't have gone to see it otherwise, so i went in with pretty low expectations. i thought the movie was great though. i was surprised to find out it was 3 hours long because it certainly didn't feel it. good movie. the 3D was cool. might try and see it in IMAX.

I enjoyed it. Take away the imax 3d and i'm not sure I would have liked it, but that was the appeal anyway. I thought that even though the story was old and predictable it was executed well (though maybe a little long-winded in parts)

You wanted to hate it before you went to the theater. What was the point of watching it?

I dont need to justify my opinion on a movie, I didnt like it. The story was old tired and has been done to death already, and the visuals looked fake and cartoony. Just my opinion, dont worry James still got my 9 bucks.

holy shit, what the fuck were you watching?

the movie was awesome and the special effects were nothing short of industry leading

there were times when I honestly couldnt keep up with how much detail was put into the cgi

some of the scenes in the movie were nothing short of epic

This was the first and only 3d movie that I've watched where looking at the edge of the screen made you feel like you were looking out a window and you could actually stick your head in and look around the corners of the screen at more stuff. It was nothing short of amazing.

one question, at the end when they are marching everyone off, there was a navi with human clothes. was this supposed to be an avatar that was never introduced? if so, where is its human?
