Now my goals are more about appearance and better endurance. So less heavy weights, more reps, and more cardio. Ideally I'd like to hover around 145."

dude, 165 even at 5'7" isn't that much. I'm only an inch taller, and in my best condition, I weighed about 182-183. Look in my photo gallery at the "Me and Friends" folder--most of those pictures were from that period...I was not at all "stumpy" looking or appearing that I needed to lean down or whatever.

I'm 6'4'', but my frame is long and lanky, which is why my ideal weight is lower than others who are the same height as me. The disparity between body frames at that height is pretty significant, pound for pound.

As posted in this thread several times, we all have our ideal weights.

I'm sure you're in great shape and I wouldn't look at you and say that you're too big at all ("muscle" big, not "fat" big)...but you are bigger than I would want to be. I also hold my weight different than a lot of people. My weight goes straight to my arms/chest...my waist is basically non-existent (pant size is usually 28/29). So when I was at 165, I just looked really big in the upper body. When I tell people what I weigh, they don't believe me because my upper body looks to big for me to only weigh 150.

I want to look lean. I can't look lean at 165. I look great at 145 though. Just a different body type I guess.

If you're at the beach or if it's just hot outside, then a shirt is an optional piece of clothing.

If it's hot outside, then it's understandable.

I don't get the crazy Michigan and Wisconsin football fanatics who wear body paint to a November football game when it's 20 degrees outside.

The key to is a constant waist size if you're going to put on bulk

My constant is probably a 32, but I have tree trunk legs and a Roger Clemens ass

I don't think my bone structure would allow me to get under 30 even if I was anemic

You can safely lose and gain weight as long as your waist size stays relatively constant

I'm a 32 at 160 and 32 at 220

However, most men make the mistake of judging their fitness progress solely by pounds lost

You shouldn't want to just lose weight; you should want to lose fat and build lean muscle

If you just lose fat, you're going to end up 'skinny fat', which is worse than just being fat

You look ok with clothes on, but underneath is a reservoir of loose skin and bitch tits, pockets of side fat and rolls that are just disgusting

You can weigh 195 and be in much better shape than you are at 180, and it amazes me how so many people don't understand this

I'm narcissistic to the point where I care more about how I think I look than how any girls think I look

That said, I've found that some women view defined abs as a turnoff

They're not chubby chasers per say, but they prefer either a flat stomach with little definition, or sometimes even a slight pudge

But fuck girls like that...I just want to look good in front of the mirror

It was hot as shit at one of those tailgates. Had been playing a little football, wanted to get some sun. I believe the other one I was just hammered...also running around a bit in warm weather. I'm not the one to shed my shirt when the first opportunity arises...but if it's hot, if it's not inappropriate, and I'd be more comfortable shirt-less...you're damned right it's coming off.

I think that there is a misconception that overweight people are always making "excuses" for their weight. I am extremely overweight at the moment. Unlike some "fatties," I have been thin and just about everywhere in between underweight and obese. For many people, it takes a great deal of work to maintain a smaller size. When I have been at my smallest, I pushed myself to do it.

Now, I am not happy being as overweight as I am right now, but I made choices. I made the choice to put other things before my weight and before my health. I chose to be with my son and take care of my son instead of myself. That meant that I ate out of a hospital lobby vending machine instead of taking the time to go get a salad in the cafeteria. I made hundreds of little choices that ended up equaling extra pounds for me. I don't regret the choices that I made because it was what I had to do at that time. I know that in many ways that I chose the easy path and that's ok. Now I have the time to work hard and the emotional energy to put into dropping back down to a lower weight.

It's not like fat people enjoy scarfing down lard and wallowing in their own fattiness.

you could eat 400 calories of chocolate or 400 calories of salad, in the long run, food choices do not matter

No doubt. 400 calories is 400 calories. But eating a square meal that leaves you satisfied and full for hours as opposed to double the calories in junk food because a Snickers bar just doesn't do it for you makes a difference.

i don't get people who say that. no offense. if i have a snickers bar i'm just as full, if not more full, than if i have 400 calories from something healthier. such as a banana + apple + chicken breast or some combination that equals 400. so a "snickers bar just not doing it for you" doesn't really make sense to me.

Rationale like that is we are by far the fattest country in the world

and it has no relevance whether you yourself are fat

Its a hive mindset

If I drink 300 calories of wine, then I get too drunk to realize that I may have been hungry at some point. Then I fall asleep early and wake up refreshed. But if I eat 300 calories of chocolate, then eventually I want real food.

You may feel full after a candy bar, but it does not leave you satisfied for the same amount of time that a square meal would. It will spike your blood sugar and then you'll crash out unlike you would with a well balanced meal that will stay with you for hours.

you may have the sustained energy, that much is true. but i rarely eat because i need energy. i eat because my stomach is empty or i don't because it feels full. i would not have another meal after a candy bar any sooner than i would something of equal caloric intake.
