It's funny, I turned back to the game after not having watched it since the 6th since I was watching the Champions League semifinal and see Glaus coming up and he jacks it out, and then so does Heyward. I love it when that happens, when you turn the channel and your team scores.
This kid Heyward is the real deal. 4/20/2010 10:17:58 PM |

Awesome win last night. I was watching the top of the 9th on PeachTree TV - I am able to get here in SC through my sports tier on Dish Network. Anyway the allotted time for the game ended and they cut the game off and went to a pre-game of the Thunder-Lakers. I was like "oh the fuck well, Braves suck anyway".
An hour or so later after I'd gone to bed, I flipped to ESPN to catch some scores and I see that the Braves won and was like "hell yeah". It was like this over the course of an hour:

Damn Halladay dominated last night although he had three great defensive plays behind him. Hudson looked very good other than one inning and a check swing by Ryan Howard that got him a hit and eventually he scored on a Werth double.
If not for the 9th & 10th inning heroics on Tuesday, the Braves would have been shut out for the third straight home game. This offense is

Wow the Braves offense is horrible. Third game out of four where the Braves faced a pitcher with a 7.50+ ERA (Kendrick, Moyer, and Maine) and in all three games the Braves managed one fucking earned run! In the other game they got shutout.
Yeah I realize Maine came out in the 4th due to injury, but the Braves made him look decent up to that point. They then proceeded to make that shitty Japenese pitcher on the Mets Takasihi look like Randy Johnson in his prime. Please fire Pendleton now and hire someone who can devise a game plan for the hitters before this season goes into the shitter like last year. 4/24/2010 9:30:47 AM |

Wow how quickly did we go from 8-5 and tied for 1st place to 8-10 and last place.
Please fire Pendleton. Yeah the guy was a hero back in 91 for the Braves, but he has been awful as a hitting coach. Players like McLouth regressing under his watch are evidence that he sucks.
Saw this gem in an AJC blog:
Quote : | "After totaling more than twice as many errors (seven) as runs (three) in New York, the Braves continue their two-city trip Monday night with the opener of a four-game series against Albert Pujols and the Cardinals." |
Let's see if we can make this streak 9 in a row. Hope we get to face Wainwright and Carpenter.

Pelfrey was awful last night and we still couldn't manage a run. I think we left 6 on through 5...?
Hudson v Lohse tonight. Lohse has an ERA above 7 but that didn't stop Kendrick from dominating our lineup. 4/26/2010 2:10:18 PM |

^ Or Moyer, or Maine, or Niese, or anyone else who can throw a round ball across a white plate. Seriously four of the eight primary position players are below .200 on the season (Glaus, McLouth, Cabrera, and Escobar). Add in the pitcher and Chipper's injured ass, and that is 5-6 easy outs every time through the lineup. Plus Heyward is now in a little slump too. What a shithole lineup.
Eventually some of these guys will break out of it and Braves will start playing better as a whole, but it sucks watching this garbage for a week straight. Plus the defense is beyond bad. 4/26/2010 2:51:12 PM |

I never really thought about it til now, but it seems like everybody actually has been worse. KJ was pretty solid when he came up before he got hurt, then kinda sucked, now is killing it (i know, it's still too early to say anything about him), and francoeur gets traded and is immediately the best hitter on the Mets for the last half of that year. Chipper goes through his worst year ever, but I'm not really concerned about him, and now McLouth sucks, Melky sucks, pretty much all of the hitters suck..

Three of the five worst OBP in the National League belong to Braves hitters (Diaz, McLouth, and Cabrera). GG guys.
Braves leadoff men combined have hit for a lower average than guys hitting out of the #9 spot. How is that possible 20 games into a season? Might as well let some fans come out of the stands and start taking some hacks at it in order to boost attendance. 4/27/2010 8:14:45 AM |

braves should consider calling up anyone willing to hit leadoff or make some trades....when is the last time we had a good leadoff man? even Furcal struggled in his last couple of seasons with the Braves. 4/27/2010 8:36:09 AM |

Escobar, Mclouth and Cabrera will hopefully pull there averages up soon. There career averages are all alot higher then what there doing now. Who knows if Chipper can stay healthy. I don't recall the braves ever having a great leadoff man. Furcal was okay. 4/27/2010 11:30:41 AM |

The early to mid 90s featured a string of solid leadoff men for the Braves:
1. Otis Nixon 2. Otis Nixon/Deion Sanders combo 3. Marquis Grissom 4. Kenny Lofton
They went through a crappy period of guys like Michael Tucker, Walt Weiss, Gerald Williams, etc in the late 90s before Furcal came along in the early 2000s.
Honestly leadoff has not been that big of an issue over the past two decades for the Braves. Closer and 1B have been more of a problem than leadoff man IMO.4/27/2010 2:50:28 PM |
