^^You lose man, deal with it.

You said Conan couldn't walk away and get paid.

He is walking away after settling with NBC and he is GETTING PAID.

Walking away means not doing a show and leaving NBC.

He is leaving NBC and is not doing a show on there, so he is walking away from the show.

He had the option to do the Tonight Show at 12:05 but he CHOSE NOT TO.

In order to avoid having to pay more money because they know they are in the wrong, NBC settled with Conan.

So in the end I am right, you are wrong, and Conan is walking away and getting paid for it. Something you said couldn't happen.

STRAIGHT UP MOTHER FUCKING OWNED.

Stop trying to defend your loss, its not going to help you and it just makes you look like a complete fuck tard when its obvious to pretty much everyone that you lost.

Conan O'Brien, NBC Settlement -- No Trash Talk
Conan O'Brien can get a whole lot of money from NBC as a parting gift, but there will be strings attached -- not the least of which ... Conan cannot trash the network.

Sources tell us NBC wants a liquidated damages clause if Conan says anything disparaging about the network once he leaves. Essentially that means there is a clause in the contract that says Conan will automatically pay a predetermined amount of money if he says bad things about NBC.

And, as we have previously reported, NBC will demand that Conan not take another hosting job for a certain period of time.

Sources say NBC will be paying Conan a hefty sum, but that will be offset by any amount Conan makes for his next hosting gig. So if Conan makes a deal with FOX, NBC can reduce the amount it pays Conan by the amount FOX forks over.

FYI -- we've learned Conan's existing contract already has an offset clause in the event he leaves NBC and takes another job.

Bottom line -- Conan won't be taking NBC to the cleaners.

Conan used to do this bit that he'd intro with a talk about how he was on so late that a large portion of his viewers was actually mothers forced to stay up late with their newborns with nothing else to watch. I guess deep down I'd always imagined that when I had children, I'd be one of those mothers. I was going to nurse my infant while Conan entertained and comforted me.

I don't know what else to say.

"O'Brien's NBC departure leaves bits behind
NBC owns rights to popular trademarked characters

The Masturbating Bear is dead.

As a deal nears for Conan O'Brien's exit from NBC, one thing is certain: The characters and recurring comedy bits O'Brien originated during his 16-plus years on "Late Night" and "The Tonight Show" will not follow the host when he leaves NBC.

The Peacock owns the intellectual property behind such popular O'Brien characters as Pimpbot 5000 and Conando, as well as recurring segments such as In the Year 3000 and Desk Driving. Sources involved in the settlement negotiations say NBC is keeping the copyrighted and trademarked elements of O'Brien's shows as part of the deal. That means the bits and characters will likely never be seen after O'Brien's "Tonight" ends its run Jan. 22.

While the vast majority of the characters O'Brien introduced are said to owned by NBC, it's unclear who controls Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, the crass canine puppet that is perhaps O'Brien's most popular recurring bit. Triumph was originated by writer and longtime O'Brien pal Robert Smigel, whose reps declined to comment on whether Smigel or NBC owned rights to the character.

In 1993, David Letterman got into a dustup with NBC when he departed "Late Night" for CBS' "Late Show." NBC attorneys attempted to prevent Letterman from taking intellectual property originated on "Late Night" to the comic's new home. Letterman responded by dropping certain bits and renaming other recurring segments -- "Viewer Mail" became "CBS Mailbag" and frequent guest Larry "Bud" Melman began referring to himself by his real name, Calvert DeForest. Letterman mocked the dispute on his first "Late Show" when NBC anchor Tom Brokaw interrupted the monologue and stole cue cards in the name of securing NBC's intellectual property.

O'Brien, if he lands at another late-night show, might be in a tougher spot. Unlike comic personalities Letterman and Jay Leno, O'Brien began his career as a writer on "Saturday Night Live" and "The Simpsons," and his shows relied more heavily on the cleverly scripted bits and outrageous characters.

Losing those assets could hurt O'Brien as he looks for another home, although his "Tonight" had featured fewer of the characters than "Late Night" and the host -- who is considered one of the top comedy writers in the business -- may be looking for a fresh start. Sources close to him said he was not interested in taking his NBC characters with him."

"Conan O'Brien Will Triumph Over NBC
Posted Jan 18th 2010 1:46PM by TMZ Staff
One of the sticking points in the negotiations between Conan O'Brien and NBC is a custody battle -- who gets Triumph the Insult Comic Dog and other characters Conan has created over the years ... sources tell TMZ. But we're told Conan will bag the dog, with strings attached.

Sources say Conan and NBC are "close" on his "Tonight Show" exit agreement -- but one of the remaining sticking points is intellectual property. Conan's characters -- like Triumph, the Pimpbot 5000 and the Masturbating Bear -- are all legally the property of NBC (Triumph's rights are a little tricky and may be the property of Conan's longtime friend Robert Smigel).

Conan wants to take them with him wherever he lands -- and we're told NBC will ultimately give Conan the right to his characters, in return for conceding other points in the exit deal.

As for what Conan may have to concede ... we're told the non-disparagement clause is still an issue. Specifically, how long will Conan be prohibited from trashing NBC? Conan may have to fold on this point in order to walk the dog.

Bottom line -- looks like the Masturbating Bear will live to self-gratify another day.

Pretty awesome that the fans are going to these lengths.

Nope!

The Time's Moment blog was tweeting during the Golden Globe awards on Sunday night and made this unnecessary and completely insensitive comment about the cancer stricken actor:

Is Michael C. Hall playing Bob Marley in an upcoming movie? Don't get the hat or what he is hiding under it.

What a fucking moron!

We assume the twat got bombarded with an overwhelming and mostly angry response from followers and later tweeted a half ass apology:

So sorry that Michael C. Hall has had cancer. Thanks for clarifying why he is wearing a knitted skull cap."

And El Nachó wonders why I trust TMZ when it comes to celebrity news more than the NY Times.

My Lord, there really just is something wrong with your head, boy.

There were 4-5 people that posted in this thread making fun of you for saying that you thought TMZ was a more reputable source than the NY Times. I was not one of these people. All I said was the one particular article that you were basing your entire argument with was wrong. And guess what? It was. They did everything but post a retraction about that article.

Nevertheless, if you're going to post things that have nothing to do with this thread in here, you could at least "call out" the right people. I don't read or care enough about TMZ to say one way or the other how reputable it is. The only "problem" I ever expressed concerning them was with the one article in question. You know, the one that turned out to be completely full of shit.

I mean, I know you're just trolling for a reply (just like every other post you've made in this thread and 90% of your posts overall) but how is anything I said even remotley untrue? There were a bunch of people in this thread trying to discredit TMZ as a whole. I wasn't one of those people. Simple as that.
