Still enjoying BW much more. Played about 15-20 matches so far in beta, and just can't get into it. Zerg feels a lot slower especially as someone used to muta micro, and baneling/roach/broodlord builds just get boring. Protoss is simply mass and go (more often than not a void ray rush), but fun when proxy pylon-ing with warp prisms and warpgates. Terran is so bio-based that it annoys me, what happened to ma ground mech play

Just played it for the first time last night and it seems....well....like Starcraft.

As in the first one.

Slight upgrade on graphics, add a few new units to each race.....jesus. This is what we have been waiting for?

I think the major updates we'll see is Battle.net, the overall online experience, and as you said, graphics.

Against mutas, you want sentries. Otherwise, stalkers or phoenixes will usually be fine. Against terran, you'll need to get an observer as soon as possible too since Banshees cloak.

^I had some fun with that yesterday. played 1 game where I dropped at least 6-7 nukes and took out their entire army each time. (2v2)

I was mostly having fun since I've never gotten around to using nukes much so I experimented.

What? Zerg is in a much better place right now. I wouldn't mind some earlier anti air but it's not usually a problem. What are you talking about when you say muta micro?

Who are you beating with this comp? Any air and you are dead.

In SC1, you could get it so that a group of mutas are all stacked on top of each other and use them as as havester/marine/other light unit sniper. It was a great harassment tool. You can't really do it as well in SC2.

Muta micro was explained, harassment with mutas sucks shit now. Zerg is in a worse place. Up until last patch, infestors were useless, Hydras take too long now, Roach/Banelings/Broodlords are the most applicable units, ultralisks get ripped without dark swarm, no lurkers, etc etc. Zerg BW > Zerg SC2.

I was beating silver-platinum players, and it wasn't really a comp as in a ball but more of a primary units. Also, I switched to Protoss and may switch to Random soon. Not having fun with any of the races.

The leagues really don't matter. I know a lot of awful people in Gold/Platinum and good people that were placed into Bronze/Silver, simply because of when and who they played.

Hellions aren't really useful in mid game, unlike Vultures. Siege Tanks are also less useful as the range seems to be dropped (although they aren't bad in SC2). Thors are more powerful than Goliaths, but they need to be used with bio because they don't have the speed (except in a ball) to provide the mobile AA support that goliaths did. Viking is an air unit lol.

^ I think Vikings dominate the air though. I don't think I've seen another mass air composition that can beat mass vikings.

^^ I have a buddy who made Platinum in 2v2 and is even pretty highly ranked. He did it through the use of Void Ray rushing. In actuality he might be an upper silver/lower gold level player. So yeah, Void Ray rushing will actually get you very far.

I've been surprised how stubborn the ranking system is. Me and my buddy started out Bronze 2v2s. I thought that was a reasonable starting place. But now, 30+ games later, we JUST encountered our first Bronze opponent. Before that we had always played vs. Platinum & Gold, every game. Which, was ok, since we're still winning ~ 50% of our games. It just seemed odd that there's only been 1 Bronze opponent so far. We've never been favored in any of our games either.

Am I alone in this, or is it how everyone's games pan out?

Since I've mostly just been playing scrims with friends, I hadn't been able to finish up the placement matches until today. Now, I understand that I went 5-0 and that means I'm gonna get placed in Platinum. But, I am no where near Platinum level. I think my average APM might be somewhere around 60. It'll occasionally spike to 150+, but that's only in SOME battles.

....Damn I don't want to be in Platinum.

Mine averages 60-80 most games, spiking to 250 occasionally. I'm def. not platinum, but I need to finish my placements as well. I need serious practice, which I'll get when finals are over, lol

I never give control, I have too much to control already without having to deal with other people's units, and I would assume the same is for my teammate.

Does anybody know what the number means next to the shield, on the screen in the top right-hand corner once you log-in?

I'm getting much better at this. I initially only played terran but i've since switched to Protoss and have been winning majority of my games.

2v2 Rank 4 - silver - Division 99 with Azaka
1v1 Rank 9 - copper (10-12) finally almost at a positive w/l ratio since i made the switch to Protoss.

FINALLY, made it to Silver league tonight in 2v2. Rank 10!

Went from Rank 3 Bronze to Rank 10 Silver in one game. Loving mass void rays btw!
