this guy needs a stern talking too. actually jeff needs to go up to him with his helmet on and push him.

congrats to LUCKY harvick and dissing shell. i will never go to another shell/penzoil gas station

That was an exciting finish. Looks like there were some pretty nice wrecks in the Nationwide race too.

I don't know what the hell is Jimmie's problem. Maybe he didn't see him or maybe he didn't realize how fast they were going. Jeff still had a shot at that point too. I know this wouldn't happen but since Jeff owns Jimmie's car could he force him out or is Rick the only that can make that call. I assume it is Rick but I was just curious. I guess the contract prevents that too.

The race was alright for a plate track. I'm not a big fan of plate racing, so I can understand if some people like it. I was just happy that Mark didn't get taken out.

^ I agree man I have been to Richmond, Rockingham, and Charlotte to see races and by far Richmond was the best...it helped out that Dale Jr. won too...I am planning on going to Martinsville for the fall race, never been there, pretty excited

^^^ i love richmond. its a short track that you can really feel the speed on. martinsville just doesnt have the same feel. love charlotte, and darlington too (but these are regulars that we tend to go to every year, so there's a little sentimental value too.) really wish i could go to richmond tomorrow as well, but i'll be working on papers all weekend.

we picked up bristol tickets this year for the night race. really hoping it lives up to the hype.

^^I went to the Bristol night race for the 1st time last year (went to a Bristol Busch Series race, the year it was delayed for snow). Since they repaved Bristol, it just isn't quite the same. I assume that over time, that will change, but it's just not what it used to be (could say that about NASCAR as a whole). Don't get me wrong, it's a good time, just could be better.

^yeah, i got that feeling when i saw the first race there this year. it just didnt remind me of some of the better races i've seen at bristol. doubtful that the new (old) spoiler will do anything to really impact the racing, but with the way things change on the fly in this series, you never know.

we'll see though. 3 seats, for all three races totaled right at $500. we didnt think that was too bad. years ago, you could probably sell the same tickets for twice that much...

lets hear it for tommy baldwin racing. they got some talent comin into the camp.
its bad when you sponsor 1 sub par driver and he quits to go lay at the beach and the next year you hire 3 sub par drivers and still suck.

Agreed. Floridaman and I had been talking about how we were overdue for one, so hopefully that takes care of the boring race quota until Michigan and puts us in the clear for Darlington and Charlotte.

Mappy, my dad, and I are going to the Cup race at Darlington this weekend. I'm extremely excited that the day is rapidly approaching. I haven't been back to Darlington since the 1992 Southern 500.

What is/was the traffic going to the track like and what should we expect coming in from the Mooresville/Charlotte direction? We are trying to plan out our schedule. Thanks!

^same. I'm heading out Thursday to meet my dad in the holding area before making our way infield. I've always taken 95 South in when coming from the Raleigh area. I imagine that might be well out of your way, but its about the only way I know how to get into the place. Its such a podunk town. Quality racing and history though.

Awesome, we have to head down Highway 151 I believe. I'm just wondering what the traffic situation will be for us. Can't really find anything worthwhile online.

probably just as bad as you remember it from 92. i know the track sits literally right off a two lane highway. if you get there anywhere close to the start of the race, you'll be sitting for at least an hour trying to get in. my dad is old school and always says, "get here as early as possible, and prepare to leave as late afterwords as possible."

I went to the darlington race in 06. The highway that runs beside the track is 4-lane now. But traffic is still a royal pain in the ass, and parking is even more so. We ended up parking in some old lady's yard for $25

Yeah we typically get to the races early and walk around. I like looking at all of the souvenirs and all of the other fun things that go on.

We may have to skip out on some of that this time though b/c Mappy has some family obligations to take care of Saturday morning (Aunt from Cali in town). That is why we are trying to figure out how much traffic we can reasonably expect coming in. Wheel Sea though. I've already been to 3 races and am going to 4 more races after Darlington plus, I plan to hit up Speed Street in Charlotte. So if we miss out on a lot of the prerace festivities it won't really bug me. As long as we are there and in our seats with plenty of time to relax.

Vickers is out this weekend.

http://www.upi.com/Sports_News/2010/05/13/UPI-NewsTrack-Sports/UPI-38751273785300/

Quote :
"NASCAR driver Vickers hospitalized

DOVER, Del., May 13 (UPI) -- NASCAR driver Brian Vickers has been hospitalized for an undisclosed medical condition and will miss this weekend's race in Delaware.

Red Bull Racing team officials said Vickers, 26, was hospitalized for tests Wednesday night. The team replaced Vickers with Casey Mears in the No. 83 Toyota for the race at Dover International Speedway.

"Our main concern right now is with Brian and his health and recovery," Red Bull Racing General Manager Jay Frye said in a statement. "All things are looking good at the moment. This is just a minor setback. We appreciate Casey filling in this weekend and know he will represent the team well."

Vickers is 20th this year in Sprint Cup points after a 10th-place finish last Saturday. Last year he qualified for the Chase for the Cup for the first time since joining the circuit in 2004.

apparently he had some chest pain and they found blood clots in his legs and around his lungs. some speculation that inhaling CO in the cockpit in Texas could have contributed. With Vickers out this weekend I believe Dale Jr and Kevin Conway are the only native North Carolinians racing in Sprint Cup.

kyle and jj were swapping the lead back and forth several times and it was set up for a good 30 lap shootout for the two of them, but after the speeding penalty it was a snoozefest. busch had like a 6 second lead over burton in 2nd
