its true. i have taken over caretaker managerial duties for Villa. i'll defer all other questions at this time as I am preparing to make some changes before the match vs West Ham.

Thank you.

I really doubt he would want to go to Barca, he'd just be another face on the bench there.

yeah I agree with that

maybe that's just a sign of how bad United are financially right now, I really have no idea. Or maybe Ferguson really is okay with his current squad as is

you know Sparky is pissed the fuck off at O'Neill for waiting so long, you know he'd rather be at Villa than Fulham

^^^ I don't know what makes you think that Oezil's not coming to United, especially not for only 13.5 million. He's a steal at that price and has already said he'd love to play in England.

on another note, I didnt realize Patrice Evra and Ji Sung Park were BFFs:

the fact that it hasn't happened yet, I guess. If they've been the favorite for a while, the price is right, and he would be guaranteed way more PT than at Barca... what's taking so long?

Probably because United has done nothing the transfer market, and they've had plenty of time to buy him at that "steal" price up until this point.

If y'all wanted him (or he wanted y'all) he would have been in the shirt practicing 2-3 weeks ago.

i read in a couple of places that bob bradley is the favorite to take over as manager. he'd be a pretty good replacement, especially if he could bring in michael bradley to replace milner.

I can't believe he'd be a legit candidate, the Fulham job seemed like too much of a stretch for him imo, and Villa is a way more attractive job.

I've read in a few places that the final straw for MON was that they were going to sell Friedel to Fulham

yea, he's not the most qualified, but i think the owner of villa being american helps his case. bradley is definitely one of the top available coaches out there, especially with the uncertainty of him keeping the usa job.

im pissed oneill left, but he spent a ton of money on shitty players that they needed to get rid of. salifou, luke young, nicky shorey, sidwell, isiah osborne, and reo coker all had really high salaries for how good they actually are and how big a club villa is.

if the owners were selling players over his head, that really sucks and i don't blame him for leaving. especially if it was players like ashley young and friedel.

Right."

So if the player wants to come and the money is right, what exactly is the hold up then?

Could it be he wants England, but a different (Chelsea) shirt?

maybe Fergie thinks he'll be available next summer on a free (when Scholes is gone)

and Barca will be buying Fabregas so they won't be interested

Why does he have to jump on shit immediately? You guys know it's not like buying bread at the store, right?

Fact: SAF went and saw Oezil play against Fulham... and he NEVER does that

Fact: Oezil has already publically stated admiration for United

Fact: Werder Bremen will negotiate to get the highest fee possible

None of that shit happens overnight. If it did, then Fernando Gago would've made it to Citeh in the January window - but he didn't.

Riiiight... You still haven't even come close to a legitimate response as to why this hasn't happened after 4-5 weeks of transfer. United can wake up and piss 13.5 in the morning, right?

My whole point is that if they want him, they don't have to beat down his door. He's already turned down two of the biggest clubs in the history of the sport. Not only that, but he's said if he were going anywhere, it would be England, and on TOP of that, he's said he has zero issue with staying at Werder Bremen and would like to see out his contract.

I never said anywhere in there that it was a sure thing that he's going to United, so don't start putting words in my mouth, and don't take my retort to your obviously incorrect statement so hard, bro.

My whole point was that it looks like he ain't coming to United and was attempting to troll the Manure apologists out of their caves over it.

You don't want that guy anyway

Honestly I don't think it would hurt to have him.

United need a long term Scholes replacement, and it's not going to be Anderson. I doubt it'd be Gibson, either.

Pretty much every article on him says neither he nor his agent were impressed with Real or Barca's offers. He wants playing time.

'Playing for Barcelona has always been my dream and someday I hope to achieve it.'

But he's also said this.

And Ozil wouldn't be guaranteed shit, with regards to playing time, at United either so that's not really a promise they can make.

So I'm really trying to get into soccer and am trying to put my allegiance towards a team.

My natural pick is Everton, they have my boy Tim Howard and a solid team with Yobo, Saha, and Neville, however, I know the EPL is dominated by the Big 4.

So I guess my question is, If I decide to pull for Everton, is that a good way to keep my interest, or do I need to suck it up and do the UNC bandwagon thing and just pick one of the big 4?

everton has a good squad, they could finish in the top 4 if they stay healthy. u should pick a team that's fighting relegation, that'd be exciting.

^^lol that stache is ftw

I'll prly end up going for Everton, i just couldnt bring myself to pull for a team like Man U.. i would feel like a UNC/Cowboys/Yankees fan, and its just not my style,

The relegation idea is pretty intriguing as well.

Nothing wrong with Everton if you're totally against a big 4 (+ City) team although Spurs seem to be the new choice for people looking for a team but not wanting to follow one of those teams

Fulham's a popular team for Americans to support, for obvious reasons. I'm a Liverpool fan but I generally just pull for the teams with Americans on them in games I don't really care about. You could do that until you find a team you really like.

also (aside from that pimp ass mustache) Newcastle will probably stay up, they have ridiculous fans, a sweet stadium, and Alan Shearer is one of my favorite players ever.... I'll probably end up pulling for them behind Liverpool this year

it's kind of how I ended up a Liverpool fan - I just liked watching Gerrard play so I ended up watching more of their games, got to know the team more, and became a "fan." Hating United beforehand didn't hurt either

^ yea no offense to anyone that pulls for Man U, i guess its just a part of my State blood, that I can't pull for a winner or the "favorite"

I mean, what fun would it be if your team won all the time

^^ whom all is where.. i know fulham has dempsey, everton has howard, any others? I know everton had a loan on donovan, but i think he is back in mls now

Don't forget about the tww fantasy league if you want to play. We got 5 so far. I like it, but I know some of you don't care for the format...but it so easy to manage.

Holden got starts with the regular XI in a handful of preseason games and it was pretty easy for him to break into the squad in such a short period of time last season, Coyle seems to really like his game
