Grabner with a hat trick today against the Sabres to put him up to 24 goals with Couture. He has officially thrown his hat into the Calder Trophy winner race. If he keeps his current insane pace up, he's going to run away with it over Skinner and Couture and everyone else.

I think the only reason it matters that Mario made the statement is that he was a physical player. No one takes any of Gretzky's comments seriously because he was coddled (with good reason) for his entire career. Mario played all facets of the game and never complained about getting banged around, so when he says things are getting ridiculous people might just listen.

I'm annoyed because of who his comments represent... and the timing of them.

Within the past 2 weeks alone Cooke laid a dirty hit on Tyutin that got him suspended... He probably should have been suspended for his knee-on-knee hit on Ovechkin the game prior to that.... and Talbot laid a dangerous hit on Comaeu that has kept him out since... though I would say that hit was clean per the rules... still a dangerous cheap shot.

I just don't like hearing the Penguins complaining about being the victims of cheap shots while they have Cooke on their team.

Does seem pretty foolish to trade Neal. Guys like that don't just come along every day. I guess the wrap from DAL fans was that he needed to show some consistency, but he's friggin 23. And (eventually) he'll be playing with Crosby. He's gonna rack up the points.

Interesting to see how they can keep a young potential top line winger long term with the Big 3 + Fleury. I gotta think Staal is going to be the odd man out eventually.

Listening to Lex and Terry this morning they had Steve Ott on and he couldnt believe that they traded Neal. He said that Neal was pretty shocked to be traded as well. Consensus on the radio show is that Neal is going to be a stud before too much longer (well, he kinda already is for his age) and that Pittsburgh just got a whole lot better offensively.

Why cant we make a move like that? I know we have a bunch of good offensive players, but a 23 year old with 21 goals and 18 assists for fairly cheap, doesnt come along too often
