So you really think defense is Lowe's specialty?

Someone said Leslie is a complete package offensively, but that isn't true. He's good, but his shooting definitely needs improvement, and unless things have changed since the summer, his free throw shooting is poor.

This season should be a lot of fun if our veterans learn to play at the speed that new guys bring to the court. Our bigs especially have to always be looking for a pass when none should exist, because Harrow and Brown have great court vision.

Defense will get better when the freshmen get a little more disciplined and stop going for steals that aren't really there.

I completely agree that if CJW really puts it together this year, we've got insane depth.

^^No. I just said I didn't miss you. I said nothing about Lowe or defense.

Well, fwiw, he's 100% from the stripe so far (4-4)

^^ IMO he is far more advanced across the board offensively than 99% of kids his size and his age. He gets great lift, has great rotation and most importantly can create his own shot.

All it is going to take is muscle memory (after being able to get to the basket whenever he wanted to in hs) either at this level or the next and his shooting will follow. I see no flaw besides lack of repitition in his jumper..

leslie is surely talented, but he plays very out of control. once he figures out what will get him points and what will end up w/ him on the floor (and decides that he wants to play defense and isn't above passing his rebounds to a guard), he'll be amazing.

We need Leslie to have a very solid jump shot when we go up to Syracuse so we can break the zone.

The Syracuse game is going to be an absolute nightmare

I didn't get that impression last night. In fact I thought he was the most under control of the three with Harrow the least by far.

CJ is the Top 10 pick, Harrow is the four year stud and 'Zo will be the most important player in keeping Lowe's job post-2010/2011. Agree/Disagree?

There were flashes of brilliance against the zone, something I want to see more of.
"

This is one of the biggest keys to our success this year. Javi is unable/unwilling to penetrate a zone, and we haven't had the guys talented/strong enough to make these cuts. Zone D has been the cause of our 5+minute droughts per game.

There were a couple of very nice passes by Harrow that I didn't even catch on the feed last night.

Harrow simply creates plays where Javi is unable to. It's not that Javi misses open men, or doesn't see an oppurtunity. He is not talented enough to make the passes that Harrow can make. The play early on in the highlight video where Harrow pulls in defenders and then makes a pass in the air behind his back makes me giggle. That is easy points on the board that we would've completely missed out on before, and even worse probably would have been a turnover.

I will require more information than youtube vids and 1 exhibition game unlike simonn the couch scout. Somebody over at PP did say there were NBA scouts to watch him at practice right?

someone at packpride also said [insert your own terribly inaccurate scoop].

it's not an insult to say that a freshman isn't a first rounder. but he's not a first rounder.

In a very limited viewing he needs to work on a quicker release and his handle. Not sure how he was able to play 1 last year but maybe both times I've seen him live he was off.

Seeing CJL work in the pant gets me so excited if for no other reason than it takes pressure off Tracy. He was double teamed all last year and still produced big time. Can't wait to see what he does in single coverage.

lol, from the gopack article about the game:

Quote :
"Harrow, who entered the game along with Leslie about seven minutes into the first half, made six of his first seven shots and scored the bulk of his points just before and just after intermission. He finished with a game-high eight assists and only one turnover, on an offensive foul late in the game."

CJL wins almost any one on one matchup. 1 on 5 will be harder when we aren't playing Pfeiffer though.

so since there is a bit of talk about Brown in this thread, is he at all similar to Gerald Henderson?

^^ and he isn't even close to the finisher that Henderson is... and probably never will be. And he isn't nearly as strong.

Maybe Rodney Stuckey, but maybe a bit better ball handler and slightly less dynamic scorer. Comparisons only do so much. What defines Lorenzo Brown is how multidimensional he is, as well as being a bit more mature of a player after the year in prep school. He is very smooth.

He is more rangy/taller than Duhon and has more ups. Also Brown will be more of a scorer and better shooter than Duhon was in college, particularly as a freshman.

If I had to compare our freshmen to current NBA players, I think DWade would be a good comparison for Brown, Leslie is comparable to Durant, and Harrow is so unique that there is nobody currently in the NBA that would compare. And then again, they are only freshmen, so comparing them to NBA players would be pretty retarded.
