This. He is absolutely worthless on the defensive side of the ball, he blocks a shot every now and again, but I would love to breakdown the tape to see how many times he leaves his man wide open for a shot.

I didn't get to see any of the game last night due to a stupid office meeting, but my understanding is that the second team played better than the starters. I check the score and see we're down 16-0, then check again and see we're down 20-17 when the bench comes out. What was the deal last night overall besides Tracy and CJ not coming to play---or so I'm told?

How can anyone not know +/- at this point? Its how your team performed when you were on the court. If you outscored the opposition by 10, you're +10. If you got outscored by 5 you're -5.

Its important because it helps to show how you function as part of the team. If a player is putting up solid individual numbers but he has a negative +/-, it could mean that he's being selfish and not playing defense. Conversely, if a player has poor statistics but consistently has a high +/-, then he's probably a better player than his individual numbers would indicate.

In a one game vacuum like last night, it helps to clearly show how our second unit kept us in a game that our first unit was trying to lose by 50.

Do they go position by position, or just what the team as a whole did while you were on the court?

If the team as a whole, what if you get subbed in every time a really hot player on the other team is subbed in and that opponent constantly drains 3s over some [i]other player[/]i on your team? You could also only be getting subbed in to beat up on a teams 2nd string where another player has to go up against their starters. Etc., etc.

If based on position, what of the zone defense?
