Yeah and he lied on his form whether “his team” or not. He did not follow rules, he gets the consequences. I still would be surprised if he doesn’t gets to play. I hope they send his ass out[Edited on January 14, 2022 at 11:51 PM. Reason : Z]

Not sure that "being jerks" is a brand you really wanna push, but ok... The whole saga reeks of political posturing by a PM who is up for reelection after having imposed pretty harsh restrictions on the country. As a matter of health policy, there's little difference between a vaccinated individual and a person who has actually had COVID. If anything, Novak probably represents less risk than the average vaccinated traveler, assuming actually did contract it last month. "Them's the rules" rings a bit hollow here, and certainly feeds into the COVIDiot narrative that such policies are about control and not science. That the PM has dragged his feet in a way that prevents Novak from appealing to the courts in time for the first round matches is an especially dickish move. If that's your bag, then cool, but I'd rather have science-based approaches to public policy than knee-jerk authoritarian ones.Edit: JFC, the Australian govt is now openly saying his removal is political and has nothing to do with any health risk he might pose. They dont like his stance on vaccinations and previous statements he's made. That's a piss poor reason for a supposedly democratic country to use to deny someone entry. Fuck them.[Edited on January 15, 2022 at 10:59 PM. Reason : ]

There was one shitbag involved. He packed up and flew to Dubai after pretending like he was going to play.

aaronburro is the type of person who would freak the fuck out if someone lied on their visa to get into the US[Edited on January 16, 2022 at 5:09 PM. Reason : .]

I dunno. Why would anyone be mortified at a modern democratic country openly expelling someone for wrongthink? Why would that be concerning at all?
1/16/2022 5:21:28 PM
so you’re ok with lying on your visa?
1/16/2022 5:22:38 PM
Considering that doesn't seem to be why they expelled him, what difference does it make? They admitted, in court, that they didn't like his stance on vaccinations and that's why they wanted him out. Fuck, look at what they are actually saying.
1/16/2022 5:30:22 PM
lied while under oath in court, too
1/16/2022 5:36:22 PM
Source? I guess you would be OK if Trump expelled a foreign athlete in June 2020 for tweeting support for BLM, as long as the guy made a clerical mistake somewhere?
1/16/2022 6:08:13 PM
hell of a deflect thereis BLM a new extremely transmissible airborne virus that I’ve yet to hear about?anyways:
1/16/2022 6:50:52 PM
Clerical mistake. Right.
1/16/2022 6:51:53 PM
Yes, he's going to intentionally lie about his very public travel history. That makes tons of sense. The fact that they barely raised it as an issue in either hearing shows it didnt even matter. His Visa would have been granted with either answer. So, back to the question. Would a clerical mistake, or, if you like, an immaterial lie, on a Visa application from a foreign athlete allow Trump to expel said athlete, openly, for tweeting support for BLM a few weeks earlier, under the guise that they could "undermine good order?"

quite telling that dude is equating a deadly global pandemic with the BLM movement Djokovich lied, got caught lying, which gave Australia all they needed to revoke his visa. this isn’t that complicated, but the dude who once threw a penalty flag at Chuck Amato would now like to throw one at the Australian government he’s been wrong on most of the things he’s passionately argued on this board for damn near 20+ years and it’s pretty funny that he’s still at it. kudos for staying committed to the bit?

Austrailia's COVID policy is not going to work long term, but I have a hard time feeling sorry for a celebrity who thinks the rules shouldn't apply to them. I wouldn't want to visit Austrailia right now anyways as they seem to be heading back to their penal colony days.Plus it really is time for a new guard of Men's champions as Djokovic, Nadal, and Federer are all getting older. Time for the torch to be passed.
