Russian volleyball has some pretty freakish athletes. The US can't really match them because anyone with that kind of talent and size in the US goes into basketball where the money is.

Ref in this brazil v Honduras match has given out 5 yellow card (one double yellow) in the first 30 minutes

Also, is there a better name than the big Brazilian player, Hulk? He looks like a hulk, perfect badass name

Re: Phelps world record times vs. chinese girls times. You also have to remember that 8 years ago was also the year of the full body suit, which they promptly did away with.

Galen Rupp wins first American medal (silver) in 10,000 meters since Billy Mills in 1964. Good race. If you don't know about Billy Mills, take a few seconds and watch below (first for commentary, second for video quality):

I had a feeling Coz would be in here posting about the 10k.

Quite possibly my favorite race of all time. Mo Farah (gold) and Galen Rupp (silver) are both coached by Alberto Salazar out in Oregon. Train together daily, good friends, etc. Galen Rupp and Alan Webb (american mile record holder) are my favorite runners, and are around the same age as myself, so I actually ran in the same race with them a few times in high school. So seeing Rupp progress steadily over the last 10 years to become one of the best runners in the world is really amazing to me.

Rupp used to not have much of a kick back in the day, but over the last two years he and Salazar have gone out of their way to help Rupp develop a "monster kick" as they once said, and it paid off today, obviously. I was jumping all around my living room, I was scared rupp was boxed in too much, but he ran a perfect race, especially the last kilometer.

I remember telling someone yesterday that my dream result would be rupp and farah going 1-2 in whatever order, but never thought it would actually happen. Farah wins in front of his home country and Rupp puts U.S. running back on the map. The East African dominance is over, hopefully.

Too bad the women aren't required to wear bikinis and too bad the USA team is old looking. That dutch team was cute.

China knew what was up when they had the cheerleaders in bikinis for their games.

^^Billy Mills, FTW! Also, London is Rupp Certified. Lastly, I wouldn't say this race ends East African dominance, but hey, it's a start. Only problem is Farah was born in Mogadishu, Somalia, which is about as far East as you can get in Africa -- but it is at sea level. Anyway, good result. It was definitely cool watching Rupp run down T. Bekele with K. Bekele fading behind.

In the 10,000 yesterday, Farah was rolling around on the track afterward, and came very close to putting his head in a pile of Rupp's spit.

I wish Bolt would quit dicking around and actually run hard for a full 100 meters sometime. Perhaps in the final. His act is pretty tired to me.

Yeah, he should waste energy in qualifying heats by not slowing up when he is clearly going to qualify.

It's not his fault he's the greatest olympian ever.

So ridiculous. As if you have to conserve a tremendous amount of energy to run for a total of less than 20 seconds in a day. This isn't like back-to-back 10,000 meter races. The 100 meter final was like the first time I ever saw Bolt run through the line. Didn't even get a world record. SNOOZE!

Sorry, but are there people out there that actually like Bolt's bullshit antics and think they're cute or funny? I guess 90% of it is just a sprinter's personality, because Maurice Greene a.k.a. the G.O.A.T. was pretty unbearable as well.

Even though he now puts his foot in his mouth on a regular basis, I much preferred the style of Michael Johnson. Serious at the start. Goes out there and mows them all down. Runs clean through the line like a boss. Equally dominant in his time.
