I got up to 170k and ran out of room for sewage/water. I maxed out everything with treatment plants, etc. but it got to be too much. Then I had a crime wave (tried the villans pack) and it just tanked that city even though I had about 1,000,000 in treasury.

I did an oil city and it was pretty profitable but you take up a ton of space with the drilling so your population will be low and it's really not as fun. maybe do that until the reserves are gone and move on to something else?

I've done the best with tourism - the expo is where it's at, giving you $150k in profits every couple days if you get enough people to it. I tried to build a stadium but couldn't find anywhere to plop it (I wish they were more specific on the requirements for where it has to go).

You pretty much have to play with other people to accomplish anything in this game.

Also, I can't figure out what add-ons to city hall are the best. It seems like finance isn't that crucial. Utilities and Public Safety seem to be high priority but you'll end up needing transportation for most any specialization pretty early. I really like having tourism early, but maybe it could wait.

I managed to get a Department of Transportation built. Since I already have the nuclear reactor built imagine I can supply quite a few cities currently and I haven't even expanded it.

This assumes I can figure out how to share it I am beginning to think that there is some sort of "connection" I haven't made that allows me to sell resources.

I kind of get it because I think it would give way too big of an advantage to the larger regions. Some things you can share, though, but I'm not sure which ones you can and can't. I think departments added to city hall still impact the entire region, and maybe some of the great works as well. Also, I think commuters and tourists can still go between all the cities if there are airports or ferries.

I just read something that claims a trade port will allow you to ship things via water - Of course, I imagine the other player would have to have one as well.

To ship goods yes, but not utilities, fire, ambulance, police, etc.

Also, I do believe there is one region that has 7 cities all connected to each other by highway and rail.

God damn EA and their fucking piece of shit servers. All I wanted to do was play the game for my first time after work and I can't do it because it's stuck at "Checking for updates" at 100%, which from what I can gather is that it can't establish a connection to the network. This is God damned bullshit. I paid $60 for this fucking game, and because in EA's almighty ineptitude, they decided to make online being a requirement, which means that the game won't fucking work if you can't connect to EA's server! FUCK!
