anyways, i dont normally get overly about wins against scrub teams (wait, of course i do. im a state fan) but we definitely dominated start to finish. loved seeing the unselfishness of the team. the chemistry looks likes its well on its way.

Most of team looks like they generally enjoy passing and setting up teammates more than scoring (but they aren't afraid to take the open shot). I love the potential of this team.

So is it student seating up above the baskets on both sides? How can they announce a sellout when three whole sections had NO ONE there? On a related note, my season tix are in a fantastic location.

Anyway, not much to nitpick about the game itself. If I had a few complaints it's that Zo turned it over too often (four or five I believe) and they were careless and that we still have issues closing out on three point shooters. Miami was a terrible shooting team but against a good perimeter team they would shoot 60% from three on last night's defense.

^^ clearly I'm not talking about that. I'm not saying it like I'm exaggerating that some season ticket holders didn't show up. The entire upper section behind the basket on our bench's end had LITERALLY no one in it.

Did the entire section choose to just not show up together? That's why I'm asking if that is new student seating as well.

Fair enough, its probably an adverse consequence of student seat assignment by section at the game, which also happens at football.

Also, most of Brown's turnovers were from being weak with the dribble which is easily correctable, especially since it isearly November. Tyler Lewisforces passes at times but I like the aggressiveness, and that should be reigned in as he gets used to college competition.

^^^neither was I. He hit one right over a defender, getting hit on the follow-through and drawing the foul to make it a 4-pt play.

My thoughts:

Lo Brown played as expected, brilliant every time he got into the lane. Only complaints were his turnovers and he didn't make his outside shots.

Wood looked great early and then completely disappeared. We know exactly what we are getting from him. He's a 3-pt specialist and nothing more. Just hope he doesn't go through a slump like last year.

Leslie shocked me with how unselfish he played. His passing around the basket was great. Overall, he looks more polished and didn't force anything.

Howell is Howell. Monster on the boards. LOL at the missed dunk.

Lewis is just such a natural pg. 6 assists in 15 minutes. We shouldn't miss a beat offensively when Brown takes a breather.

Warren quietly got his points. Plays like a wing but built like a college PF. Should be interesting to see whether he or one of our big white guys is our first post option when Howell gets in foul trouble.

TDT finally hit some shots.

Vandy looked a bit better, but at his height he should be swatting shots and grabbing every rebound. He still doesn't know the footwork required to get in position to make those plays. That Dunkaroo was awesome though.

This team looked like it was in mid season form. We are in for a fun year.

1st half, 3:35 left, Brown to Leslie to Howell for the dunk....someone get the .gif of the kid in the student section freaking out.


I'm watching a replay of the game right now and I'm mostly impressed with the unselfishness of this team. The ball movement is ridiculous. We knew Brown could do this, but Leslie is making great passes. He knows he's getting a lot of defensive attention and he's finding Howell for wide open layups left and right.

We're much better suited to withstand his shooting slumps this year. I mean...he didn't do much after the first give minutes and we still crushed them. We move the ball so well and have so many
"scorers", that we don't need to rely on Wood hitting at a high clip.

Man...this team looks good.


PS...little worried about the defense. We gave up a ton of open 3s. A better shooting team (or a team that gets hot for a night) could light us up. I can see UNC having their best shooting night in the past decade against us. I think our guys play a little too much help defense and we either need to do a better job of fighting through screens or switching off of them. Thats where they got a lot of open shots.

Box score says attendance was 19,065 and capacity for basketball at PNC Arena is 19,722. So yes it was sold out, but still the attendance was very high too. That's 97% capacity. Yes, I'll take that.
