John Milhiser stabbed himself on camera in his only appearance in this episode.

He gone.

Mostly crap tonight. One sketch had a 2:5 cast member:guest ratio.

Look I know you hipsters love St. Vincent, but I heard two turrrrrrible songs from them tonight.

Tell me what song I should Spottily to change my opinion of this band.

I liked their first song.

Second one was pretty garbage.

That first song was horrible...glad I missed the 2nd one. Opening was funny...but mostly because of Maya...although the spider thing was good.

Quote :
"They cut a "Mornin' Miami" from this week's show, which is a bummer. "

How many of those have they done? The first one was funny...the second one was extremely week. I think that skit was maxed out after the first one.

I had only seen St Vincent on the Colbert report or somewhere and remembered it to be slow and boring and I wasn't a fan. But I dug both of the songs on SNL. Kinda Joy Division Talking Heads-ish (I think when i saw her on the colbert she was performing with David Byrne from their colloboartive album which i haven't listened to)

Annie Clark is a Queen and how dare you speak ill of her

and it was an ok episode which was far too dependent on guest stars, but that says more about how great they are than anything else

they absolutely nailed that first Digital Short, though

^^^ If you like that one, check out the whole "Strange Mercy" album. Far and away the best record made in 2011 IMO.

I watched some of the "Women of SNL" thing that came on the following night I believe...it was alright (better than the season finale)...I think I missed out on a lot of the references though which I guess were from some reality show

Yeah, it was even funnier to me because a few weeks before it aired my gf and i had been flipping through the radio and stopped on that song, and were tripping out to the lyrics and how Gregg wanted to show a girl his tattoo.

I'm No Angel is definitely one of my favorites sketches of all time as well.

I first saw them on Colbert also, and the first song they played on SNL was the same song they played on Colbert.

To those who like her performances, what about those performances do you like?

And to answer your question, I just don't like that type of music...and honestly don't even know what you would call it. She sounds like she has a good voice, but I just don't find her music enjoyable or entertaining at all.

because she's supremely talented and makes music that I (and others) find enjoyable?

I'm not trying to talk anyone into liking her. it's just there is a big difference between "that doesn't really do it for me" and "that performance was terrible/horrible/awful".

I liked it because, to me, it was kinda a throwback to 80s post-punk/new wave/whatever you want to call it. Like Joy Division, Siouxie & The Banshees, Echo & The Bunnymen, Talking Heads, Duran Duran, etc. (I'm just basing that on those two performances)

it's kind of been an open secret for the past year or so. she would have been gone last season had John Mulaney's show been picked up the 1st time.

Brooks Wheelan's contract was not renewed. More news next month. I'd guess that Milhiser and Wells are gone, too.

it's not like she was unlikeable

she just wasn't able to break (even though she was given more chances than the other two)

Didn't see it the first time either. Guess when I've never heard of the host, and Coldplay is the musical guest, I don't feel the need to tune in.

Colin Jost's movie made me feel like the worlds oldest 29 year old

at least the SNL castmembers were funny in it
