Once again, not to gloss over over the problems on defense, but I think scoring will start to tick up this year after declining for years. It will take a while but the powers that be realized that all the ugly parts of the college game related to defense and allowing the clutching, grabbing, etc was killing the game. There has been a concerted interest in freedom of movement with the rules. Now if they can just call it evenly and all year instead of changing midway through the season then teams will have to adjust and you will see more flow.

Most of college "defense" anyway is just what would be fouls and illegal defense in the NBA instead of proper positioning and playing well on switches and off the pick and roll.

Creighton has an outstanding offense and were firing on all cylinders. Foul trouble, short bench, short rest, players got chippy, they had the crowd on their side, etc. it all adds up. We still scored 95 points.

I really think that the way we played in the first half is what you can expect to see more of when we are at full strength. The second half was bound to happen with all of those factors working against us against a top team.

Yeah seriously. This loss would never hurt us if we are in a good spot for an NCAA tourney run. People will see that having three significant contributors sitting on the bench played into our exhaustion and lack of depth.

The new matchup zone definitely did it's job. St. Joe's wanted to drive and create, we wanted them to shoot. We conceded some open shots, but they had almost no penetration once we switched to it.

Now if we can just figure out how to rebound out of it. Only reason the game was even close was because St. Joe's grabbing offensive boards. Anya is just awful at rebounding -- mainly because he's trying to swat everything in the paint instead of boxing out -- and Abu is so-so. Hopefully Kapita and Yurt help here
