Officials were fine. They let Jax be physical most of the game and that PI on Jax gets called often. Saw it all year on deep throws.

Jax did what to many teams do vs NE. They have a great opening plan, NE adjusts, other teams gets flustered and tries to burn off the last 18 minutes of the game leaving their defense gassed and NE in rhythm.

Yup. Patriots weren't gifted shit in this one. Jax offense stagnated, and the pats made some great plays.

I’m not blaming the refs at all, just a simple observation I made after I thought NE got away with a PI...can’t even remember the drive it was on now. Obviously it wasn’t the difference on the game.

Yes...this is why Brady and Belichick are so great.

Pretty sure that ball landed in bounds...I thought it was overthrown...but the WR did get held up.

The only issue with both PI calls and the helmet-to-helmet was that it wasn't necessary by the defense. Both throws were covered and Gronk dropped the ball before he got hit. But that happens a lot.

How many penalties were called on the Patriots during the entire game?

Before you take a look....one. Just one penalty flag on New England the ENTIRE game. Guess they are just that well coached

I mean...you can't impede a WRs progress. He basically held him. How can you argue that it wasn't PI?

^^ Can you point to specific examples where they should have been called for penalties? You can probably find a holding call or two that was missed...but you can probably do the same for Jax.

And its not like the Jags had a ton of penalties either...but they had a couple obvious PI calls, one blatant helmet-to-helmet, and some obvious procedural penalties. New England doesn't normally do dumb shit like that. So it's not surprising.

I fucking hate Brady and the Patriots...but you're full of shit if you're trying to blame this on the refs.

the refs did absolutely nothing to help the Patriots come back

they were great in the 4th, and the Jags pulled a Falcons. it’s as simple as that.

Totally bias reffing led to a delay of game out of a timeout by Jax.

So you are all saying that it is 100% plausible that New England could play an entire game of football while only committing one penalty?

Quote :

Not blaming the refs but it's not how can you justify one penalty called on the Pats the entire game? While the Jags had several questionable calls that "could have gone either way" It's said that holding occurs on every play in the NFL but the Patriots just so happened to avoid holding the entire game?

http://fanbuzz.com/nfl/referees-make-controversial-call-that-kept-new-england-myles-jack-afc-title-game/ Let's call a play dead even though it ended up being called a fumble on the field.

it’s rare, but there have been games in which one team has only been called for one penalty (or no penalty)

your first link has nothing to do with penalties

until you re-watch the game and chart missed flags, just stop

There were 7 penalties in the game:

Jags - illegal shift, false start, delay of game, holding(declined and clearly was), hitting gronk in head, PI, PI
Pats - Holding(kickoff)

So they really let them play especially on the line. Hard to argue with 5 of the Jags penalties but I guess maybe one of the PI?

They weren’t calling holding and are they suppose to ignore delay of games and illegal shifts? Jags easily could have had 1-3 penalty calls all game too. Maybe NE is well coached?

You actually are completely correct...

According to NFL research on Twitter

Quote :
"The Patriots were called for 1 penalty against the Jaguars It is the fewest penalties called on one team in a playoff game since the 2011 AFC Championship... when the Patriots were called for 1 penalty in a win over the Ravens"

Man those Patriots are just so disciplined...

^ really 3 posts in a row?

You are going to pluck single plays and cry for flags? You can do that all game long. And on that play you picked that is a classic form block and release on lateral motion. Anytime a player grabs another player isn't automatically a hold. Happens all the time and doesn't get called.

Like how you ignored that 4 of the Jags penalties(shift, false start, delay of game, and head shot on Gronk) are all indisputable penalties. Then you get the 2 PI calls, and to be honest the Jags could have gotten 5-6 more PI calls if it was a different ref crews, I've seen a lot of what they were doing in games at the least call a hold.

They totally let both teams play especially in the trenches. Only 1 Holding call in the trenches was called and it was a blatant tackle of a Pats player. They let them play, and realistically it could have been each team with 1-2 penalties.

That video is one play, and he releases on lateral motion plus it wasn't a game winning TD in that video just a first down run. You can find that same block by the Jags all game long and it wasn't called.

If Wentz didn't get hurt this Superbowl would have been a sure blowout, but with Foles it's probably going to be a pretty good game.

i used to absolutely hate the patriots. But now that i see how much idiots complain about the patriots getting help from the refs constantly......i'm pulling for them.

i mean, the jaguars had a 10 pt lead with 10 minutes remaining and the ball and blew it. How did the jaguars lead the game for 50 minutes with the refs giving the patriots all that help!?!? lol

the jaguars curled into a ball and hoped to hang on. The patriots, in patriots fashion, didn't play like pussies and went and grabbed the W.

But I don't translate it to New England...I won't cheer for them.

Not sure if it closed today or not, but the betting line opened Eagles +5.5. I saw that and thought if I had readily available access to sports betting, would've been all over that for the Eagles.

For the record, the Panthers only had 1 penalty for 1 yard against the Eagles this year (Birds had 10 for 126).

Goodell met with some former receivers to discuss changing the catch rule. I like it the way it is. NFL players are supposed to be the best of the best. Maintain control throughout and you won't have anything to bitch about.
