I tried to stay awake as long as I could watching, but fell asleep before the Puma/Idra match.

Slow at work so hoping to catch that, I heard it was a few great games, especially game 2 if you want to just pick a few replays to watch and DL.

A lot of SC2 tournaments coming up. IPL3 in AC, then MLG in Orlando. GLS is unwatchable, to many Terrans, not getting up early to watch TvT.

I stayed up to 3am, and i only saw the end of the 3/4th place match, they were taking a break before the final so there was no way i could watch. Good call on the replay, is that EST or is that europe?

Just unintentionally discovered something really LOL. Playing customs I was dicking around and hatch rushing vs terran. I put my hatch down at the top of his ramp and thought I had his depot build position blocked off, but apparently not. So he built the depot, then built a bunker just to the left of my hatch. What ended up happening was all my larvae couldnt hatch. I just kept building and building zerglings which were just sitting there in eggs. Finally when the hatch died the 6 broodlings popped along with about 10 zerglings (And stupidly, which cost me the game.. two drones I had accidentally built). I was very close to breaking him and if I had had the extra 4 zerglings it probably would've been enough, I just didn't realize what was happening until it was too late.

^I saw a video where a guy placed his pool and evo chamber such that all the larva and subsequent eggs where trapped in a square. As soon as one of those buildings was destroyed, 10 ultras and some roaches popped. Guy steam rolled from there.

Downloaded game 2 of the Puma/Idra series. That game was just nuts. Just playing the replay and locking in on Idras camera it is insane how much multi-tasking was going on all over the map. That game was constant drops, harass, he must have lost his hatches 10 times. He even had a hero infestor that ended up with 30+ kills that he just parked above one of the expansions using fungal on scvs every few minutes.

I didn't watch from Puma's point of view, but I have to imagine it was just as insane since he was managing drops in several places while macroing well and holding off muta pressure.

Also they are starting to reveal new units for HoTS on their SC2 facebook page. Hopefully that means expansion is coming soon.

The original Queen design had it capable of doing a few more spells and stuff but they took it out.

I'm guessing the queen and nexus/chronoboost are both going to get some sort of addition to balance out all that the Command Center offers.

Have to be honest, not thrilled that the first teaser unit is a Terran unit. At least humor us and go with Zerg or Protoss, Terran seem to be just fine at the moment.

HEADS UP!

I have some announcements!

First off, the Barcraft event at Ruckus is going to be next weekend, Oct. 15th. Currently, there are about 15 (plus minus 3) attending. If you're going, just let me know in this thread so I can keep track of numbers.

Secondly, Chris with r/TriangleStarcraft has appointed me as a mod for the subreddit. If you want to see any changes or whatever, let me know.

Thirdly, Chris was given a bunch of swag from Justin of justin.tv including t-shirts, mousepads, a few flasks, and a ton of keychains and bottle openers. We will pass out the keychains and bottle openers to all barcraft attendees and we will be playing some games at the barcraft to give away the other stuff.

Lastly, Barbie Koelker with the NASL has contacted me directly to let me know that if any of our barcraft attendees would like to go to the NASL Season 2 Grand Finals in Southern California at Ontario Convention Center will receive free general admission ($25 value). Just come out to the barcraft on Oct 15th and I'll be passing around a sign up sheet. You'd still have to get out there and stay in a hotel though.

He is still a macro zerg that just has decent control. I wouldn't call him a micro oriented player at all. I mean he'll drop like 5 hatches and just make lings all game, not really a micro player. He has some good infestor control too but overall his strength is just good zerg game sense, when to drone and when to make units. But that is really what defines all the zergs.

I like him, but he is quickly becoming the most overhyped SC2 player around and this weekend has just made it worse and that is getting annoying.

I don't believe that he is just a macro player at all. I've been watching his stream since before he got super hyped, anyone can make 5 hatches worth of lings, but against most decent players that is incredibly useless. He has insane control over his lings - splitting them to limit tank AOE, counterattacking with small groups at just the right times, he really is talented. And I don't see how you can say he is overhyped considering what he has done this weekend already is more then most foreigners can say.

For those of us who are deathly afraid to get into multiplayer, has there been much word on when the next installment of this game will be coming?

Also (I've asked this before), but has anyone ever come across a trainer or editor which would allow an increase in difficulty but would allow you to still control the game speed? I just flat out can't keep up with anything more than normal speed. I'm gettin' old.

Create a custom game with the speed at whatever you want and turn the AI to a harder setting? Or do you mean the making the campaign harder but not faster? Part of getting better is playing faster, just keep practicing.

Yeah I think they want it so that the difficulty and game speed go hand in hand.

But if you plan to play any multiplayer even after the expansions(no announced date) then might as well get use to the speed now because that is what you'll play on.

I can't play on anything but the fastest speed. Feels like the game is in slow motion.

I will comment as one those who was deathly afraid of multiplayer and say that playing against friends or playing multiplayer is the only way to get rid of that fear. My anxiety about playing 1v1 was so bad that my heart would race and my hands would shake during the loading screen for ladder matches. I only got over that fear when i forced myself to play 1v1 daily-ish or risk the shame of Lokken calling me a scared little bitch.

This was probably stated earlier but if you really want to play multiplayer eventually then I would say find some friends to play against or play some custom games that have no consequences for losing or rewards for winning. You might get yelled at by people who take those games seriously but who cares. I started with fastest map possible which helped me learn unit dynamics and scouting but i think Team Monobattle is one of the easiest ways to learn the game by playing aside from watching casts or playing 1v1.

IMO, the only difference between normal speed and fastest speed is normal is for those who have to look at the keyboard(alot)/ don't know the hotkeys.

Personally I think the best thing to do is just play ladder. Playing against the computer at any difficulty won't teach you a ton about the game (though it is helpful for learning hotkeys and such). You might get your butt kicked in your first 5 games, but eventually you will get stable against guys who are your same skill level. Every now and then you will have a game where you get stomped again but just learn from it, eventually you will move up.

If trying to get into multiplayer should do something along the following:
1- Pick a race(I suggest protoss for new players, won't go into why just think it is easiest to start).
2 - Learn 3 builds, a 1 base rush, a fast expand, a cheese build.
3 - Practice those builds against the computer. Start on easy level, but play on fastest speed. Go up in difficulty as you start to beat the computer easily.
4 - Start playing customs vs. randoms or friends. Can always get a game on Xel'Naga or Shattered.
5 - Start playing ladder, and remind yourself there is no reason to be nervous. Nobody gives a crap about your record, or if you are any good or bad. Sure I'll still make fun of your lame silver league placement, but you'll still be better than me in real life and that is the real victory.
