^I'm going. Should be fun.

Holy fucking fuck, that Okkervil River/Titus/Future Islands show is going to be an obscene amount of fun. I kinda hope Titus plays last even though Okkervil is bigger. Obviously not going to happen, but Titus is a high-energy show, hard to watch another band after a set like theirs.

^^ I am fucking pumped about that show, I'm buying a ticket when they go on sale Friday I LOVE Okkervil River.

I am also seeing Future Islands this week, I bought tickets to both shows but I might give one to a friend.

Okkervil River can step up the energy if they want, and they'll be solidly into the run with that bill when they get to the Cradle, so they'll probably have it all worked out. I can't see a band with the quality and versatility of Okkervil River getting one-upped by both the other bands on the show, so it should be killer either way.

Enthusiasm makes me queasy, but by god, that line-up is certainly worthy of excitement.

^^ Yeah, totally agree...it'll be a Lennon/McCartney/Harrison or Curt Schilling/Randy Johnson situation (they both/all three get better feeding off of each other)...except I can't imagine Titus Andronicus getting any better than they already are live.

^ Enthusiasm makes you queasy? Jesus, I'm just as much of a contrarian as the next guy, but that must lead to a pretty dull existence. How dare people actually get excited about something they enjoy?! Who are you, Holden fucking Caulfield?

Best Coast should hire a bassist

and I don't think there's a band I can think of who's albums sound as dated as Primus.

i got Decemberists and Best Coast tix.

row G... but, not sure how I'm feeling about $87 for 2 tix when I just bought 4 tix to the Okkervil River/Titus Andronicus and FI show for much less, and anticipate what I believe to be a much better show.

i'm just happy to get into the show season again, though, so i'm buying up anything lately. i'm going to attempt to resist all other shows until the Hoptscotch VIP tix go on sale, but Fleet Foxes in Atlanta is tempting.

Colin Meloy's Twitter account is the douchiest thing ever. Says stuff like:

Quote :
"My following @charliesheen was a youthful caprice. I have since stopped. I suggest you do the same."

He's pretty full of shit...Like, why talk like you're from the 18th century at the same time that you're using a Twitter account? I used to be a big fan of The Decemberists to be honest, but I don't like them at all anymore.

you don't like him because of choice of words or the content of his message?

and, Neil Young in Durham at DPAC on 4/15 -- not sure if this was mentioned, but probably so:

^Like I said, I just think he uses archaic language to seem smarter than he is.

Plus, I don't think it's immature or childish to follow Charlie Sheen's tweets. They're hilarious. I just hope Sheen doesn't die.

In general, Meloy just seems like one of those guys who really looks down his nose at people and his tweets reflect that. That in addition to the ridiculous verbiage.

Went to Cults/Small Black/Sun Airway last night. All three bands were excellent. Sun Airway especially blew me away as the first band to play. Cults have gotten infinitely better since Hopscotch; they sounded extremely tight as a band and the lead singer (along with being pretty hot) has an excellent voice.

Also, I definitely want to see Neil Young at DPAC, but there's no way I'll be able to afford it. Even the cheapies at DPAC are incredibly expensive. Plus, it's the same night as Toro y Moi (if Neil was cheaper, though, I'd probably try to go to both since Neil starts at 8).

It's definitely a really tough choice and both shows will be awesome.

^ It wasn't anything big. She mentioned the games that day and then said she had been monitoring the Sidney Lowe situation. Apparently her dad went to Duke.

Then last night Jenn Wasner said her dad texted her and was relieved because he thought the crowd might be hostile to them if Maryland beat Duke.

^Wasn't that show at the 506 (in Chapel Hill)? If anything, the crowd would've cheered them for being from Baltimore, haha. That's funny, though.

In addition to the Okkervil River opening at Cat's Cradle 6/1/11, Titus Andronicus will headline a show on 4/25/11 at UNC's Gerrard Hall.

^The question is, should I see Titus Andronicus four times in a little over a year (five if they play Hopscotch)?

I'm thinking yes. Can't get enough TA; if they keep comin', I'll keep goin'.

Edit: Actually, it's a seated venue, which will probably be pretty weird for a Titus Andronicus show, so I think I'll hold off until the Okkervil River show.
