My gramma died in Feb of 04.

I was getting out of the shower one day last month, and realized the 4th anniversary of her death (which had more of an impact than any of us foresaw: the family has pretty much fallen apart without her influence) had passed and I had missed it.

Anyways

For a long time, when I'd think of her, I'd recall her the way she was just before I touched her face in the casket. Then, I began to recall the image of her in the hospital bed the last time I saw her.

But now I recall things like her at Christmas, her in the kitchen, her out with us when she was well, her home on furlough in 98. I still haven't visited her grave, despite having been down to Fayetteville at least twice now. The only reason I wish she were alive? So she could have met my ex. She'd have approved of him so much and the way my extended family treated him would have been so much better.

And I've been wearing a pair of her earrings for four years straight now.
