Well, we've had these cusp-of-breakthrough moments roughly once per season for the past five years, give or take.

A select few folks have remained pessimistic, even despite a solid season record so far. Historically, I have not been among those few.

Then, when we blow it, we become crushed and vow never to fall victim to optimism again. Those few are prepared. I am not.

So...I know it seems it's the same thing all over again tonight. But I swear...on everything I hold dear...on everything I believe in...it shall not happen again, for me. There is never again such a thing as "the year."

I will not carry any optimism for my school's football team. If we are 10-0, I will continue to be pessimistic. We SHALL fuck it up. It is the only logical way to live. There is nothing that anyone can do for us, ever. Period.

I take comfort in the meaningful, proven, measurable things, like the quality of the education I received from my school, which landed me my job, which provides me an excellent quality of life. But I will not boast for my team's accomplishments or their potential until they show my 3+ years of consistent dedication.

I am calm in this conclusion. It feels good. No need to be defensive to other ACC fanatics at work, because I completely surrender. Don't care. Nothing to defend. Other things to worry about.

We Suck again. Archer is such a fucking cunt. One of the (many) awful defensive gameplans I've seen since he's been here. Corners consistently lining up giving them 6-8 yard cushions when they throw a smoke screen every fucking play. What a joke of a coordinator. I don't care how bad our players are, you can't be that stubborn to let them score 21 points before you change your strategy. Pathetic.

^Archer isn't the reason we lost. After we made adjustments the defense played well enough to win the game. Offensive play calling and special teams fuckups lost us this game.

Down 21-0 what does Archer do? Make the defense play a little more aggressive in the secondary, starts denying the shorter passes, and after the hot start ECU would only managed 2 FGs more (OT doesn't count much when you're talking overall defensive performance as both teams should score, if one doesn't, it's usually because the offense does something stupid more so than the defense taking it away).

Pretty sure archer doesn't preach bad tackling to the guys. Players fucked up on both sides of the ball. Where the play calling failed was offense. We our o line is not good enough to run sweeps and stretches all day. We get a few good blocks up the middle but that's it. Dump passes and crossing routes could help open up the force the defense to soften up but at this point our o is one dimensional and easy to defend aside from receivers making circus catches on jump balls.

After the first quarter the defensive play calling was solid and they played pretty well all things considered. I don't know exactly if it's Russell's fault or just the bad play calling on the picks, but there's no fucking way we should be going for it all on 3rd and whatever, no fucking way we should be abandoning the dive when we were getting 5+ everytime we ran it, no fucking way we should have gone for it all on the pick at the end of regulation, etc.

3rd and 7 means you need 7 or 8 yards, not 30. 3rd and 4? You guessed it, 4 or 5 not 40. Call a play that gives you a good shot at getting those 4 not a 20% chance at 40

This game was not a matter of chance or ECU being lucky,


We showed up to this game and thought we were going to ROLL ECU just by fucking showing up! in the first 2 qtrs, routes were being ran incorrectly, when we ran the ball we would never give Mustafa or Dean a couple blockers while using the delayed hand-off, and Russ was trying to squeeze the ball into Pack receivers that were double and tripled covered...WTF??!!


ECU is NOT a better squad then BC but they came to play and it showed and EVERYONE on our god-damn squad thought, "We're 5-1, ECU aint shit, blah blah blah, and it showed".

The ONLY players who I saw for this WHOLE game for the Pack who showed up to play were "Nate Irving and Audie Cole", and that's a god-damn shame!!!

We lost because ECU beat dat ass. We actually thought we could come out flat and just snore through this one?!? Do teams still do this shit? Stop DOING that! If we come out fired up in the first quarter and maybe put a TD on the board and maybe hold them to 14 or even 17 in the 1st, then it's a damn different game, even with all the ways we managed to screw this one up. I mean, we could all pick a reason and go on and on about it but I'm choosing to focus on the fact that we essentially blew the game in the first 15 minutes.

That pretty much sums up my feelings

I think, much like Grobe last year, Ruffin McNeil laid the blueprint for how to beat State. Swing passes and torching us across the middle where the LB's should be if they weren't all blitzing killed us. our defense is a one trick pony, and if you negate our pressure and blitzes, our secondary is so bad it can't stop you.

Our offense is very vanilla and Russell has somehow developed a habit of staring down receivers and deciding where he's going with the ball in the huddle.

I just don't understand why we don't roll the pocket more. RW is lethal on the run. Make DB's guard our WR's longer and give RW the run option.

I've pretty much accepted the fact that we're a mediocre team going forward.

We simply cannot continue to run full house blitzes vs. good QB's. We'll get torched, just like we did today. With our current defensive scheme, we only have a chance vs. QB's that hold the ball in a pro style offense. Quick slants, screens, and swing passes will kill us unless we stop emptying the backfield of LB's
