Michael Mann says hockey stick should not have become 'climate change icon' June 28, 2010
Quote : | "The issue became a central argument in the climate change debate and was dragged into the 'climategate' scandal, as the sceptics accused Prof Mann and his supporters of exaggerating the extent of global warming.
However, speaking to the BBC recently, Prof Mann, a climatologist at Pennsylvania State University, said he had always made clear there were 'uncertainties' in his work.
'I always thought it was somewhat misplaced to make it a central icon of the climate change debate,' he said." |

Yet any time someone expresses any sliver of skepticism, we're told about the large scale consensus amongst the entire scientific community7/2/2010 1:15:56 PM |

^ i don't think insinuating there is a massive conspiracy by the scientists to manipulate the data like you and others have been claiming really falls under having a "sliver of skepticism."
And i'm pretty sure too that people have been saying for 60-something pages that theres more to climate change than the paleoclimate data. 7/2/2010 1:19:50 PM |

i've been saying for probably 5 years on this site in various climate change threads that i'm on the fence, that there isn't enough data, and that 100+ years of data isn't a good indicator of a 5 billion year old planet
and 99% of the time it was met with "OMG YOU MUST KNOW MORE THAN THE SCIENTIFIC CONSENSUS" type answers...by people who were 100% confident in their own (incorrect) opinion that humans are definitely causing catastrophic and irreversible changes to the climate
but i guess we're making big big steps and progressing though...the scientists are finally admitting that manmade global warming isnt some huge certainty that the entire scientific community agrees with...and therefore people like yourself are actually doing the scientific thing and questioning their conclusions, instead of just eating it up as fact
they're finally admitting what all the non-brainwashed people have been saying for years and years
maybe one day people will stop equating carbon dioxide with POISON] 7/2/2010 1:28:26 PM |

Hahaha. I love it. I'd rather see one that had companies cutting things like mercury, NOx, SOx, and other (and in my opinions nastier) pollutants but all things in time. *cue the Glenn Beck conspiracists who fixate on my usage of "all things in time" denoting the longer visioned goals of my eco-terrorist homies to take away your freedoms one by one! The only thing that might have made the video better would have been if the button-pusher was someone famous like Bono who after blowing up the children climbed on his Gulfstream jet to fly home.
